If you guys had a third recommender, did your application status say that?

Has anyone else tried to contact admissions by email? I sent mine a few weeks ago and haven’t heard back

@thrombocyte: I sent them an email right after receiving my application ID. I sent them something to add to my app. They didn’t respond.

@thrombocyte: Did you contact your regional admissions officer or the admissions office itself? I emailed my regional officer last Wednesday evening about my app and she responded Thursday morning.

@Bubbles888: No; on Cornell’s blog, it states that only required materials will show up in the portal (2 teacher recommendations). I also had an additional recommendation that was received, but not updated on my account.

@ForeverFish oh thank goodness…i just noticed it today and it freaked me out. thanks so much

Hi wula, what I get is CIEE interview, 20min writing and 20min interview. It’s a third institution running interview for many universities, so it doesn’t ask about Cornell specifically. My interview is different from yours. I think in alumni interview, he will inform more about Cornell. Good luck!

My daughter was just contacted for her Alumni interview and is meeting tomorrow morning.
I have directed her here to calm her and encourage her about her chances at Cornell.
She knows it is a reach and crap-shoot for any Ivy.
She is extremely nervous and it is rubbing off on the whole household.

Applied ED to CAS

What do you all think of her chances?

Hi, I understand about anxiety spreading through the household. In mine I’m usually the one spreading it around. Your daughter’s scores are on the low side but everything else looks great and could compensate. For the interview, she should think about the questions she still has about Cornell. What did the alum study and why? Why did she select Cornell out of thousands of possible colleges? Is she worried about the weather? Or is it a selling point? What kind of community is she looking for? Does the alum think she might find it? My son was asked why he put ‘undecided’ for his major. He got told the difference between Princeton and Cornell. Cornellians aren’t shy about jumping right into an intellectual conversation, whereas apparently at Princeton it might be considered rude to skip the polite small talk. Every alum probably has different stories, ask them what they liked best.

Above all, just be yourself. The alum gets to reminisce and you get to find out whether you’ll like the place.

Thanks - Crowlady.

We are originally. from NY and we have family in Ithaca, so she is not really concerned about the weather. Her cousin, my nephew is a freshman this year also - She is already sold now we are just waiting on the hard part getting accepted. I like your idea to ask about the alums major and why he chose it, as well as just what they liked best.

I will pass on the info about the interview as it is happening at 9am today and I am not sure she will check in here beforehand as I am off too work.

Having been raised in the south, when I went to Cornell I turned on my electric blanket in October and kept it on through April. My son was thrilled it snowed (barely) the day we visited Ithaca in March, because he doesn’t get enough wintry weather here in Maryland. Except today. Okay, now I’m guilty of “polite small talk” :-)

Good luck jjb1219’s daughter!

Does anyone know if I am supposed to get a PIN number (not an applicant ID). I have been looking through some of the old posts, and found Cornell website where you find out your decision. To access that website, you need a PIN number…

Is it just for past applicants?

@harshk how did collegeboard send ur scores on the 19th? I thought the earliest they could send it would be when the scores come out, the 21th. And where on the cb website does it show when they sent it?

@tkim5574 In the acknowledgement email, they send an Applicant ID and an access code. You follow the link to activate your online tracking and set your own password. https://applicantid.cornell.edu/applidactivation/

After that you go to the self-service site (which is kind of hard to find).

I think by PIN they might mean access code or password. I agree it is confusing. Here’s more info: https://applicantid.cornell.edu/ApplIDManagement/applidfaq.html

I’m assuming that the decisions will be available at the self-service site, but I haven’t looked to see yet.

***…I reported my Nov. scores on 11/2 (have an email with order confirmation), but I just checked my send score history and called CB to find out that I apparently never did. That left me no choice but to rush send them today. I rem a post earlier saying your scores will be received if they’re sent on the 26th. I would really appreciate if someone can confirm this?

If anyone else’s Cornell application status still have unupdated scores, I would check with CB to make sure they were actually sent!

Oh man, that sucks. Glad you realized in time. Did you initially report your scores using one of the free score reports? In any case, if you mentioned you were taking the SAT in November on your application and rushed them today, then you should be all right (still double check, though!)

Hooray, Thanksgiving’s coming up! Are you guys going anywhere or just staying home?

When you say mention the scores, you mean under “testing” right? Or should I have mentioned it under the “additional info” as well?

I’m probably going to use this Thanksgiving break wisely and catch up on some sleep. Haha.

@embargo I got worried after I read your post. We just checked and my son’s SAT II (an extra one, so not essential, but turns out to be the best one!) was finally received. I had rush reported it on Nov 21. Whew.

@embargo - When I clicked the link for ‘see sent scores’, the page stated :

“We sent the following scores on November 19, 2013” and then the scores followed.

Did anyone else apply to CALS for Animal Science?
