Just put the school and if you wish (or if it’s important) the major after the decision, like:

I wrote my Common App essay about dog walking, most of my activities were centered around one animal shelter where I have spent thousands and thousands of hours, and my major was Animal Science on a Pre-Vet track. I really believe I embodied my major and that’s what ultimately got me in, legacy or not.
