Official Cornell ED Class of 2014 DECISIONS Thread

Does your school rank?
Even though my school’s ranked higher than yours and we get a LOT of cornell acceptances, anything under a 3.6 UW [For ED] is pushing it.
Then again, we only had one acceptance into the Hotel school in the last few years and the guy had a 3.5 UW, which means experience > gpa.

However, your ECs are good which is probably one of the most important aspects for Hotel. Some people don’t have that, have much better stats and don’t get in, which should say good things for you :P

yeah i knowwwww
my gpa is dragging me down  almost to the point where it’s really foolish and a long shot for me to even consider applying…
i just really hope they will show me mercy and look at my passionate side instead haha.
does anyone know the stats last year (gpa) for hotel applicants?

hotel, AAP, and ILR are really fit-based. You’re a good fit and long hours of work can (maybe) explain why you didn’t study as much and didn’t get the GPA you wanted. Seriously, 32-40 hours of work per week? on top of school? I find that pretty good for a high schooler.

[Statistics and Profile](http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/admissions/ugrad/stats.html)
Best I could find.

Also, it looks like they have a significantly smaller accept rate for ED [lolwut?]

I agree with misterpresident 100% the AAP and Hotel colleges are very unique. I know for Architecture and Hotel, experience is key and passion is a must because late nights and minimal sleep is common. So stay confident.

If ILR is fit based, then if I have a 4.1 W with a 2250 SAT score along with great fit do u think I have a decent shot?

haha thanks guyss
i’ll be at work when i check my acceptance x.x

if i get rejected… 8 hrs of listening to complaints and dealing with angry guests… with a sad empty heart hahaha jk

but if i get accepted yay!!! haha

wow i just checked someone stats and wowowowo!! :

^EarlyDecision

I guess so ya. If you do great in social science courses at school & are dedicated towards (and good at) ILR-ish activities (MUN, debating, political campaigns…etc), then definitely I assume so.

I want to wish you all good luck as I have two peers who will be checking theirs tomorrow! ^^

Just know this, no matter what happens, it’ll all be okie dokie. There are other schools out there!!!

~WUSTL ED-er ^^

I checked out the ED decisions thread from last year… it’s sooooo random. It really looks like they pulled names from a hat. I think standardized tests have no impact whatsoever once they’re above a certain point…
For those of you seeking a hernia:

Metalpots, I almost had a stroke until I realized it was Dartmouth. I was wondering why nobody was posting the school they got into…

OOPS!
Ok… Either I can no longer find that thread or I’ve been freaking myself out over the wrong thread for the past 24 hours. Hopefully it’s the latter… The damn thing came up in a google search under CC with a bunch of other Cornell stuff… soo… way to go google… And me… not reading… forum titles…
Nice catch. Thank you.

Haha… I see someone reposted my stats.
I’m flattered you think I’m so qualified, but rest assured I’m freaking out just as much, if not more, than all of you. GOOD LUCK! Still wishing for the best for all of us :)

Edit: janeee - good luck to you, most of all. I envy your work experience and hope we can both go to the Hotel school and maybe even have some classes together!

Gluck everyone! And don’t forget its not the end of world if you don’t get in.
But if you do, just make sure to scream and cry to wake up the whole house at least. ;)

Here’s the actual thing for all of us to cry about together.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have officially made it into the final 24 hours.

Two kids made it into dartmouth from my school, but i guess they’re not on CC

Thanks for finding that, akmeecheen.
That’s a bit more encouraging… considering the Dartmouth ones. I didn’t catch any deferrals for people with 2300+… Some of the rejections scare me though, but most of them seem to be because of GPA or lack of ECs…

Arctic, did we have 2/5 or 2/4?

I’m not sure, i don’t know who got rejected, i just know that Y.Z. and D.R. got in
