Official Cornell Ed Results Thread

awww thanks cornellian07 that's really sweet! any advice you can give us? :)

I would be happy to answer any questions about Cornell that you have, but ask specific questions. But generally, I would say get involved in a lot of activities. Sometimes the academics there will feel overwhelming and you'll feel like you have no time for anything else, but you will enjoy Cornell a lot more when you are involved in outside activities. Getting your mind off of academincs once in a while is healthy. Also, when you get there for orientation week, introduce yourself to everyone and be friendly. Everyone is looking to make friends, so its not "weird" to randomly start a conversation with a stranger, like it is in most situations. Social dynamics are completely different when no one knows each other.

cornellian07, is it better to have a single dorm or a double dorm? i know this is a matter of opinion, but from what you have heard/know what are the advantages of each?

Hello everyone, I was just accepted to Arts and Sciences.

SATI: 780 Math, 740 Verbal
SATII: 680 Math 1C, 700 German, 800 Writing
GPA: 3.67 unweighted, no idea about the weighted; my school uses a very arbitrary rating system. I wasn't in the top 10% of my class, only in the top 13% or so.
I'm a legacy; my mom (and my aunt...) went to Cornell.

My extracurricular isn't spectacular, but I'm a fencer and I've earned a little recognition for that. Gotta love obscure sports...

I had two recommendations: one from a social studies teacher and one from my German teacher.

I'm not sure exactly what got me in (probably a combination of SAT's, legacy and essay[s]) but...it doesn't matter, now does it? I can sleep again!

Congratulations to everyone else who got in, and my deepest condolences to those who didn't.

How do I get rid of subscription to these threads? I don't want an email every time someone responds to something I say. Thanks.

cornellian07, go to "My Control Panel" and then click on "Edit Options." From here, you should see a subsection titled "Messaging & Notification," and then another subsection titled "Default Thread Subscription Mode." Using the drop-down menu, select Do Not Subscribe and then hit "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page.

ACCEPTED (human ecology)

IM me if you're going, too: AllottaV007

what kind of "outside activities" would you recommend? and how do we join those? is it like high school where we just show up to meetings? lol

Will a 630 on the Math IIC immediately disqualify me for the school of Engineering? Everything else is fine, there's just that one blip on the radar...

no, nothing will ever "immeidately disqualify you" for anything. that might be some little thing they pick at. make sure you take great care with the essay and just the presentation of your application in general. best of luck!

accepted to CALS.. don't know how I got in, but so excited!
