thanks nskkk…you are far too kind…what is the least/minimum gpa you have heard of someone get into with at Cornell aem?

So talked to ILR admissions today. I’m soooo tired of getting different answer but it sounds like non-GTs won’t find out until December. I’m not sure when GTs are suppose to find out. Just thought I’d pass that along.

@nskk - I have the same question cutiebeauty has referring to ILR. What is the minimum GPA you have heard of someone transferring into with for ILR?

ILR question-Has anyone else had an interview yet/know what type of questions they ask? Mine is soon and I have no clue what to expect.

For the ILR GT’s who haven’t called yet: we find out in a couple of weeks, I guess. Tufts managed to **** up sending my College Official’s Report, but I think they’re faxing it tomorrow. 'Cause no one person can see my academic and disciplinary status. And they lost the form I gave them a month ago. I hate bureaucracy. Lesson: make friends with the receptionists. If they like you they will do you favors (like faxing a form directly for you).

@nskk
I’m going to PM you about the room switch, 'cause I’m definitely interested.

@IthacaKid
Mine was a 3.33 applying as a non-GT, which is pretty low for a college GPA and the lowest I’ve seen around here. Ironically, my GPA’s gone up since they gave me the GT.

@witchdoctor
Don’t stress too much. Have a few good questions to ask your interviewer and be able to effectively reiterate your essay (why ILR is a great fit for you). My interview was with Ian and I really quite enjoyed talking with him. You might want to pick out specific electives that interest you so you can mention them if need be, and definitely have an idea of your specific interest within ILR. Good luck!

my bad i just read the post for cutiebeauty…
we got this!!!

@weezy My GPA is a 3.4 right now and at mid-term this semester I had a 3.68. I think I will have a solid 3.6 at the end of this semester with A’s in Statistics and Micro. I have strong/not seen everyday EC (Private Pilot license, SCUBA diver, Eagle Scout), have some legacy, and know some influential people at Cornell but I’m still not too confident on my chances. If I do get in I won’t feel like I deserve to be there.

@witchdoctor I had my interview about a week ago. Be ready to describe the ILR program and explain any low grades you might have earned.

Called CALS today and they said no decisions have been made yet
They told me to call back around the 15th.

Could you tell me which residence hall or house is relatively quite (no crazy parties)?

@xd they said the same thing to me—i guess we will just have to wait or something however–i really need to let my university know soon and we register for classes for next semester like monday which happens to be the last date to do so

@cutiebeauty

hey there. Aem is actually one of the harder schools to get into. I don’t know about what the lowest gpa is, but because athletes have first pick of what school they want to get into, the slots in aem fill up fast. That being said, I have a few friends who are internally transferring and they feel pretty confident about being able to get in.

I live in cascadilla and it is quite quiet. Even on friday and saturday nights, you can study in the lounges and not be disturbed at all. The only problem is that there aren’t that many spaces that will open up. I know my room should have a space, and I know another boy’s room who may be opening up, but I haven’t heard of any girls leaving yet.

the dates i stated (mid-november) is for CALS, which typically have the earliest notification date.

ILR and hotel have the latest notification date (starting early december) b/c of the required interview.

maybe this clears some things up.

oh and GT’s hear back earlier than the dates stated above.

@tallFrodo
Thanks so much! Poo im gonna have to wait another month :/

to nskk

So among the choices that are available for transfer which residence halls or houses are relatively better considering that cascadilla is not available for women?

thanks!

@ithacakid91…pls dont feel like you do not deserve to get in…remember cornell’s website says that the school does not have a minimum or required gpa of some sort-so everyone who wants to be in deserves to apply. The fact that you know people who work there, truly may enhance ur getting in-its like we writing a recommendation letter. You are more advantageous because ur recommendation letter is also in form of a physical apperance (not only in writing). I had to respond because I feel everyone deserves to feel good about their positive actions. You do not have to look down on your opportunity because you think it is more of a higher one. Most times, we have to know people who will act as an instrument for us to get to a higher level. Goodluck. Hope we all get in.

anyone heard ANYTHING or received ANYTHING?

hmmm??? I don’t think it’s possible to get in with 3.3

@cutie Thanks for the kind words. I really do appreciate it.

@israilov It sounds like one person got GT with a 3.3 so it’s a possibility. I really think it depends on the school. It seems like it would be a lot harder for someone to get in with a 3.3 applying to Arch. or Eng., but maybe people applying ILR might have an easier time. Keep in mind, since people have already submitted all of their materials we are all looking for positive feedback as appose to negative.

@ithacakid91 and israilov

Yeah, that was me. I had a 3.33 college GPA at time of application, but I had good HS/general stats, a great rec and my midterm report was a 3.8. So it’s possible, just difficult. In any case, not worth thinking unhappy thoughts about.

Sorry to disrupt the thread as you all anxiously await your decision for Spring transfer but I was wondering if anyone has or has heard of someone tranfering to Cornell with over 60 units?

I applied last semester with about 54 units but did not get in and could not apply for Spring as internationals do not recieve financial aid in spring transfer admissions. I plan on applying for fall admission next semester and will probably have around 75 units completed by then. I don’t mind loosing some units by transfering to Cornell, just wondering if it’s still possible and if it’s viewed negatively by the admissions officers?

I have solid stats will apply either CALS or CAS: currently biotech major
-3.78 GPA(will probably go up above a 3.8 after this semester).
-good EC.
-can get good letters.
-will write a mean essay which I think was my downfall last time since I did not put much effort into it.

What do you guys think any advice?
