hey guys…i just wanted to see if anyone could chance me for Cornell. I’m pretty sure I dont have the stats to get in, but just wanted some feedback.

California Community College

Current GPA: 3.42 (Biology Major)
EC’s: President of Indian Club @ my college (for 2 quarters and will continue till i transfer), English Professors paid teacher’s assistant (for 4 quarters and will continue till i transfer), tutored for English on campus for three quarters and will continue to do it till i transfer (until spring 2011), Volunteer at Kaiser Hospital (500+ hrs), Volunteer at my college clinic (started this fall quarter and will continue) Research assistant at NASA Ames in a biology lab (started during summer 2010 and will continue till I transfer spring 2011…15 hours a week during school), Honors Student (Honors Program at my college)

anandrenga2001: Those are not really stats. Yes, you show us your GPA, but what are your scores (APs, etcs). I know someone on this thread got GT’d with a 3.3, I believe. So, your GPA is alright. You rely too much on your ECs, that’s good, but If I were you I would only list those that have changed you. I guess what I am trying to say is: You can name every club in america and still not sound interesting unless there’s something that club has done to you. Best =)

Oh sorry! i just assumed that EC’s were really important for top notch schools…im trying to do a bit of everything (things that are related to my major like my internship at nasa, and things outside of my major that i like doing like tutoring in english)…im trying to do all of them for a consistent amount of time so it doesnt look like im randomly piling on ec’s for quantity purposes. As for my stats…I took no AP’s and my hs grades and SAT scores are really bad (2.5 and 1710)…embarassing i know.

anandrenga2001: I am sorry to tell you that your SAT score is awful =(… As for you ECs. I liked what you told me “…im trying to do a bit of everything (things that are related to my major like my internship at nasa, and things outside of my major that i like doing like tutoring in english”- This would be something you can put in your ‘additional info’ of your Common App. You should try applying to Cornell, it never hurts to try, right? Best =)

it seems like you will be applying as a junior level transfer. your H.S. grades won’t matter much then and if you are applying to CALS you are not required to submit any SAT scores so it won’t matter (i believe you have to submit them for CAS tho). just raise your GPA, and make sure your science grades are really strong and you’ll have a decent chance.

And don’t forget to write a great essay! But yeah, I think you should try your best to raise your GPA to 3.5+ for a better chance. (the person got GT’d at 3.3 had some legacy?)
Anyway meh and harvardhop and tallFrodo will be waiting for you at Cornell and we will throw a party to welcome you in the next Fall :)) [ahem, now I sound as positive as Harvardhop, positiveness must be malignant tumour]

still, no one has gotten a decision?.. whow…well, goodluck!!
what gpa or grade does one have to keep this current semester-if you have been accepted to cornell(spring)? Cuz i know they withdraw people who fail their classes after been accepted. Anyone has an idea?
Thanks in advance

Cutie- I think you need to have at least a 3.3 GPA, but I may be wrong. I also know that you can’t drop your academic performance by a lot. If you fail your classes for a non-academic reason I would suggest people to send Cornell a letter with an explanation, otherwise you may be put on probation.

I randomly saw this thread so just wanted to offer some update regarding acceptances.
CALS, or at least AEM, has been releasing acceptances.
One accepted spring transfer visited my class with his parents this morning.

Hi Ilovebarneys:
Several people on here for CALS have already been notified. Do you know anything about A&S decisions? Thanks for stopping by =)

I’m confused now, since I already paid for my Spring term at my current institution. I am going to talk to my parents tonight! see what happens. Ugghh!! I just can’t BELLIEVE ITISISISISISIIAIIIAIIIIIITIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT’‘’

No mail, dude Considering that we applied on the same day and you live in California (while I live in Texas). If they admitted me, I would have received the mail already. You must have taken the last spot. lol

Chances are that only the rejection is waiting for me. But I am old and tough, I’ve prepared for this scenario. I only want to say one thing:
