Official Cornell University 2013 Early Decisions Thread

All because of me. :-)

Wow you guys’ schools are sooo easy!! My school never scales marks, so our class average is 73%… My 86% (an A in my province - 86~100% = A) in IB Chemistry HL is actually considered one of the top!

I remember coming back home from the post office the night of Dec 31st. It pays off, guys.

LOL Jaysong didn’t get in? I wish he didn’t do anything stupid…he hasn’t posted at all yet.

Chandler, I was rejected. I really don’t know why, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s never to hold onto anger or loss. So I’m moving on- and I’m sure I’ll have a great time at CMU (and not even in the bitter “ugh, second choice school” way!)

However, I did come to check the board to see who got in. CONGRATULATIONS, you guys. You’ve worked SO hard for the last four years, and now it’s all paid off. This is the culmination of your successes and your nine billion thousand AP Classes. Even if you were deferred, you still have an amazing chance at getting in compared with a regular applicant – so I consider that the same as an acceptance, really. I enjoyed getting to know you all over this forum, if only for a brief time of neurotic worrying. :D

What the crap… I can’t believe you were rejected! Cornell rejected/deferred all the cool kids :open_mouth:
CMU’s a great school, I’m not in anywhere and am only just applying RD.

Yeah it was fun, I can’t believe how many amazing people got rejected.
That’s the Ivy League for you, I guess.

Have an AWESOME time at CMU!

completelykate, what did you mean by “Even if you were deferred, you still have an amazing chance at getting in compared with a regular applicant”?how? i was deferred.

Cherry- Probably because now you have the advantage of having shown very strong interest in the school… RD applicants can say that they like the school, but you’ve actually SHOWN it by binding yourself to them :stuck_out_tongue: even if now its no longer binding…

True… but we were deferred, meaning that they didn’t want us when we were bound. So I don’t know. If we don’t look competitive with the ED pool, how are we going to look competitive for RD?

congratsssssssssssssss to everyone who applied!!

just remember! if ED and RD both fails, theres still transfer!

Anyone from NJ???

alot of people are…i mean Central Jers

I’m from Central Jersey.

But denied.

Accepted COE and too lazy to post stats. Congrats/consolations, all!

Chandler: son is another in-stater deferred for HumEc. Who knows why? We’ll all have to wait and see.

Round 2 applications: CMU, WashU, Syracuse, UBuffalo, Hobart. Already accepted at Pitt, Drexel.

Wow! It seems like a ton of us in-staters got deferred by HumEc! Yeah we will, this is crazy. He was going for a rare major too.

Round 2 applications (aka insanity): Dartmouth, Tufts, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Geneseo, Williams, Yale, Brandeis, Harvard, Columbia, Penn, maybe Amherst, maybe Brown PLME, very maybe Stanford.
I’m aware that I’m completely crazy, btw

I guess that I should have posted earlier…

Congrats on the acceptance!
I have yet to see an in-state acceptance though!

It’s probably the money. My guess is they’re going to wait until they see how much state aid they get, and go from there…

Yeah that’s what I think, it’s the money.
So maybe we all have a good shot RD, since they made sure they get money from out-of-staters ED.
What do you think?

Stay hopeful, Chandler! They deferred you for a reason- you interested them! So keep your grades up, and prey for the best… I’m sure Cornell tries their hardest to be fair and not discriminate by geographic location, so maybe they’re just saving you for the RD round  Either way, stay positive! :)

Good luckk!
