[] ACT:

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Only had a few but they were all big time commitments. State-ranked athlete (non-recruit, obviously) was probably my biggest accomplishment. I also taught myself a few foreign languages, play the guitar and juggle competitively.
[] Job/Work Experience:
[] Volunteer/Community service: Board of directors for a local nonprofit: Maybe 500 or 600 hours throughout HS?
[] Summer Activities: Summer classes at local CC
[] Essays: Common App and Supplement were both my best work
[] Teacher Recommendation: Amazing
[] Counselor Rec: Amazing
[] Additional Rec:
[li] Interview: It was nice, but Cornell’s interviews don’t count for admissions[/li][/ul]

Other[ul]
[] State (if domestic applicant): Underrepresented
[] Country (if international applicant): USA
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: XY
[]Income Bracket: Vey low and fluctuates, but I’m a Pell Grant qualifier

Reflection [ul]

[] Strengths:
[] Weaknesses: Obviously everything was pretty weak
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Because I’m worthless
[] Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Rejected or waitlisted everywhere I applied except JHU [/ul]

**General Comments: I wish I could be positive, but this is too much to take in stride. Hopefully it will suck less later. Good luck to everyone who got into at least one good school. If you got ****listed like me, I sympathize and hope you feel better soon. **

Waitlisted at CoE
Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): 2220 (770 R 770 M 680 W)

Additional Rec:
Interview: refused it
Other
State (if domestic applicant):
Country (if international applicant): USA
School Type: Private
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket:
Hooks: Immigrant
Reflection: I was expecting a rejection, so this is good enough, haha
Strengths:
Weaknesses: a lot of those
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected:I wasn’t trying to get in, otherwise I would’ve done a much better job of putting my app together and participating in activities that would help me get in. My application to Cornell was more of an afterthought.

Congratulations to those who got in!

Don’t want to post stats beyond 34 ACT, 2nd in class, decent SAT II, really good essays/recs, NHS president/member of 6 other clubs, NMS Commended, lots of AP classes (only 2 B’s so far in school) and 5’s on everything but Physics B last year, but I got:

U of Illinois: Accepted
Madison: Accepted
Northwestern: Waitlisted
Dartmouth: Waitlisted
Brown: Waitlisted
Yale: Waitlisted
Princeton: Waitlisted
Cornell: Accepted
Columbia: Accepted

That’s into CAS, but I think I’m going to Columbia over Cornell, depending on financial aid. So that’s one person on the waitlist who probably gets a break!

Don’t mention affirmative action. I was accepted into Cornell as a hispanic and I’m not proud of it after seeing my more qualified friends be rejected. Affirmative action sucks

Decision: Rejected by the School of Engineering and Arts and Sciences

Objective:[ul]

[] Strengths:
[] Weaknesses:
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Accepted to UC-Berkeley
[] Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: waitlisted/rejected by every common app school

General Comments:
Berkeley is better.

anyone else get a gaurenteed transfer? what does that mean?

Yellowsnowman–I was curious about your stats–and looked back to old posts.

Stay proud of getting in. You deserve it and it looks like you are very bright and work hard. There are all kinds of injustices in the world, that none of us can fix. But it looks like you were given a great (well-deserved) opportunity. Don’t feel guilty about it. Good luck to you!

Was quite happy that i got accepted to Cornell but then my Harvard letter came. I guess off to Cambridge
Congrats on all the other acceptances

uskoolfish: Thank you. I’m just stressed today after seeing the ivy decisions for students at my school. There has been a lot of tension in my school this past week due to affirmative action. A lot of minority students being chosen at schools such as Stanford and MIT over MUCH more highly qualified students and the only conclusion we can draw is that it was due to affirmative action.

Anyways, congratulations to everyone who was accepted today :)
