Make it rain , you sound alot like my D last year. She had similar stats. She agonized over every rejection. When she applied to UCD they forwarded her app to UCM. She thought it was the last place she would want to attend . She now loves it. It's a UC school and tougher then what some kids think. So it doesn't have the big sports programs yet. The party scene not as wild. It challenges its students w/o the pressure of large classes.

So can ANYBODY help me out with what Provisional means?

Dear (my name)

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of California, San Diego, I congratulate you on your admission to Muir College as a major in Pre-Bioengineering:Pre-Medical! UCSD is one of the nation's premier universities, and we look forward to welcoming you to our campus.

Your online admission notice will give you the details you need to accept our offer of admission. On this Web site you will find our Admission Guide which covers a variety of important campus information.

A convenient checklist will ensure that you know what needs completing each step of the way towards admission.

You'll be able to submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), view your Financial Aid preliminary award notice, learn more about your undergraduate college, and much more. Please remember the deadline for accepting UCSD's offer of admission is May 1, 2008. And be sure to save the date for Admit Day, Saturday, April 12!

Mae W. Brown

Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of Admissions
Admissions and Enrollment Services

but on the next page it says:
Congratulations on your provisional admission to the University of California, San Diego! Our decision was based on information you reported on the admissions application through your final year of secondary school. Prior to enrolling, you are responsible for satisfying any conditions which remain.

Make it rain, UC is still better than A CC. My D insisted she would go to UCM only if I supported her decision to transfer after she completed her core classes. Which I gladly did ? All the UC's require you complete core classes before you begin your major reqs. Guess what she's happy now and doesn't want to transfer. Who knew? Me! wise old dad!

Every admission is provisional because all your grades are self-reporting.

If you have a typo and the 2 As you reported are actually Ds.
If you get multiple Ds in your senior year
If you get below 3.0 in your senior year

You admission will be rescinded. That is what provisional means.

Historically,
2012 admit - March 15, Saturday, 12:30 pm
2011 admit - March 23, Friday, 6 pm
2010 admit - March 18, Saturday, 1:45 pm
2009 admit - March 19, Saturday, 9:55 am
All CC time, ie. Pacfic Time zone

Announcement will come late in the day Saturday, say after 10 am after the IT people show up for work. Or on Fridays after business hours.
I suppose they don't want the CC'ers to crash their computer servers during normal business hours during the week - self-inflicted denial of service, so to speak.
