Be very careful. Boarding is a double edged sword, especially as you will be freshmen. If you mess up and hang w/ the wrong crowd, you will screw yourself over in terms of college admissions. Its a good idea to check back on CC as a HS'er to make sure that you are in contact w/ the real world. Boarding schools often form little microcosms of their own, and if without the guidance of your parents, you can easily fall astray.

^ exactly what my mom tells me EVERY SINGLE DAY...sigh

trust me when I say she's right. Honestly I always didn't take my parents seriously before coming to my current school, but now that I barely talk to them, I have realized that listening to them is indeed better than trying to make some dumb decision. They have years of experience... take advantage of that.

i'm JUST sending in my financial aid stuff. do you think i'll pass?

I am sooo nervous. I can barely get to sleep because right now I am under so much stress.

oh you are new! welcome, another 8th grader at CC. beware of logisticswizard!!!

yeah, read his posts up there! Where has everyone else applied to? I'm waiting for desicions from Choate, Exeter, and Andover

logisticswizard is somewhat annoying at times.

11 more day.....

days*

this is for the ten-word requirement

Deadline is approching, just thought I would add that in. I hope none of you are nervous

Isn't it 11 days? Of maybe Im counting wrong on account of nerves. I applied to Cate and Cate only so it's kind of a one chance thing for me. Sooooo nervous!

less than ten now, i think.
Kitty, are you only applying for those three?

yeah I am only applying to those three boarding schools. And one day school. The only thing I am worried about is my extra curriculars. Not so many clubs, math, science, etc. And I only participate in three sports.

And I only participate in three sports.

ONLY three??? ONLY???? man, i 'participate' in one, and i'm not even good at it!!!

i wish u guys luck.. i remember how it felt that 8th grade spring.. *sigh *rolls eyes

Well two of them are horseback riding and figure skating. Two sports that I will most probably have to give up if I go to boarding school. Or maybe I'll figure something out. I saw Choate has a horseback riding club and Andover has figure skating as a recreational sport.

i heart horseback riding, though it isnt available in my purely surburban town:(
and i gave up figure skating years ago when i found out i sucked at it lol.

k im getting off topic. right now i have a huge dilemma over the four schools i love best. they're all special in their own ways, each with a unique thingy that isnt available at the other schools. but whenever i start thinking about it, i remind myself not 2 count my chickens before they hatch.

many elite schools in the east offer sports like that, so kitty, you should definitely check with them. figure skating! i used to skate when i was in 2nd grade, but i had to quit in like two months. i cant do any tricks or anything like that.
and horseback riding....man, wouldnt that be to expensive? AND i feel sorry for the horse that i'll be riding...it'll sink to the ground.

When do the private day schools in the Boston area mail their letters...on March 10th or earlier?

^ i'm guessing march tenth. many of the schools i'm applying for also has day students, so yeah. you should check with the schools.
