Move In Day for several schools is fast approaching, and since today is Harry Potter’s birthday (the most notorious boarding school student in our history), I’ve made a thread for people to freak-out in.
Some people seem to be traveling to their first days in late August? I didn’t know schools even started that early! I don’t know about everyone else, but I have about 5 weeks left until I drive up to New Hampshire and so, so much to do to prepare! I have a summer job so I haven’t had the chance to sit down and think about it, but I’m sure the 38 days will disappear super fast.
I’ve chosen the snacks I’m bringing with me already-- wasabi peas, ginger snaps and some peppermint tea. I haven’t heard anything about which dorm I’ll be in, or if I’ll have a roommate so I haven’t gotten much stuff to decorate. Only basic things.
@junemaybees long time no talk!! how’s summer?
I don’t think I’ll be bringing any snacks with me when school starts… and DEFINITELY not wasabi peas–but you’ll have to share the peppermint tea with me .
I haven’t gotten anything about dorm stuff either but I read on past threads that for our school specifically, they came around august 11 last year.
@Center They put a lot of thought into these decisions, trying to create a diverse dorm. If you have any preconceived notions about dorms, let them go. You cannot form opinions on a dorm based off of childish, outdated stereotypes. I’m sure your son will enjoy his dorm, and it’s important that he enjoys it- that is the only opinion that has huge weight. If he doesn’t like it, he can switch out. It’s no big deal.
@Anonymousia if you’re entering as a prep, you have an 90% chance of getting a double, so that isn’t surprising. If you’re entering as a new lower, then it really depends on what dorm you’re in. I got a single, and so did the other new lower in my dorm, but I have friends in other dorms who had roommates as a lower.
@riceboy222 I’m not sure why. Just my opinion from having been in Webster to see teachers/friends in Webster. I’m sure you can ask a current resident though. Just shoot them an email.
