I’m pretty sure you can take Psych 90 without taking Psych 1. I’m not sure it will actually be any less work though. Psych 1 is 5 units, but my guess is that it’s not any more work (perhaps less) than upper division classes that are 3 units. I’ve heard great things about the prof too, so if there’s room in your schedule you might consider shopping both classes, seeing what the workload is like, and choosing the first or second week of classes which class you actually want to take.

As celestial would say (maybe?):
Go for Psych 1! Don’t let the 5-unit thing scare you. Just get a good TA, and you’ll be fine!

I agree with both! Psych 1 is awesome, and it does have work/reading, but it’s not overwhelming. It’s extremely interesting and informative. You could take Psych 90 w/o Psych 1, but just check Psych 1 out the first week if you can! You can take Psych 1 any quarter, and I think the professors are all great, but I think it is slightly better to take it in the Fall.</p>

<p>All the TAs in Psych 1 are great I’m being serious - they are selected for knowledge, creativity, and enthusiasm about the subject. Section is meant to be fun as well as informative.</p>

<p>Thanks you’ve all been extremely helpful. I’ll probably at least shop psych 1 to get a feel for the courseload and then I’ll decide.</p>
