Official Dartmouth '12 Early Decision Thread

Judging from the early decision results, Dartmouth is trying to lock in as many people with higher SAT's scores as possible to take advantage of the fact that Harvard and Princeton both ended their early admissions process. That's why a lot of students with good SAT scores that fall into Dartmouth's range are being deferred.

ok im new to this sight and am not sure how to work it but congratulations to everyone!! and goodluck to those who didnt get in. since yall seem to know much more than i do about getting into college could you please let me know what my chances are of getting accepted

From the Columbia board--a jolly green congrats to all who got accepted! To those who were deferred or rejected, I promise you'll end up happy in the RD round wherever it is you get in. There's a great school just waiting to accept all of you, be it Dartmouth or anywhere else.

It isn't the be-all-and-end-all, if Utopia is right - it just means the adcom is probably prioritizing test scores this time round. Greater priority does not make them the sole priority.

utopia, i tend to agree with you. not saying there arent exceptions, but it looks like for the most part the super high test scores make up the majority of those accepted

We've fought the good fight. While some may have lost in this skirmish, we all live to fight another day. ALL will be victors in the end. And no one who charged in this brigade nor shed a tear with us, in either sadness or joy, will be forgetten.

I shall try to maintain a record of the brigade so that future Dartmouth aspirants can learn from us and so that all who fought here are honored.
