[ b]General Comments:
I am so excited for next year and honestly didn’t expect all that much. Lesson is, you don’t have to work on curing cancer, be a wealthy donor, or the next olympic star to get in. Be who you are in your app! I’m sure that’s what got me in ultimately. Can’t wait to meet my classmates in Hanover next fall.

deferred - too busy right now to post details but I might do it later. it’s good to know I have a chance, even if I don’t get in.

congratulations to those accepted, and best of luck to everyone else!

My friend doesn’t use CC, he was actually banned from CC for trading released AP Econ exams…=P But I’ll post his stats, just to add to the pool here.

-Decision: Accepted.
-GPA/class rank: High – mostly As with a few Bs, and about 12 AP classes (alls 4s and 5s).
-ACT: 27.
-Great recommendations (you know, teachers say kids like this are the reason they teach).
-Great ECs – research under URochester professor, Schuler Scholar, went to Dartmouth Bound and Summer@Brown, active in Hispanic Heritage club and church.
-Good essays (I proofread them and edited them, so I would know).
-Hooks: Hispanic, first generation student.

*Again, not me, but I thought it’d be nice to post his stats for all of you.

Weaknesses: Low test scores?

General Comments: Be yourself. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s a lot easier than alternative options.

[ /list][ b]Other

[ *] State (if domestic applicant):N/A
[ *] Country (if international applicant):India
[ *] School Type: Private
[ *] Ethnicity: Indian
[ *] Gender: Male
[ ]Income Bracket: -
[ ] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Im not sure… i think Indians are Over-represented ? I never really considered ‘hooks’ while applying :-/
[ b]Reflection

[ *] Strengths: I never let my grades go down. And I managed to study for my APs all on my own as my school doesn’t teach it. Also , i believe me ECAs accompanied what i want to do , which is environmental/chemical engineering.
[ *] Weaknesses: I felt that taking the SAT 3 times was a bit much but then I got a 2340 on my final attempt from a 2160 - a 180 point jump . So i dont think it was taken too negatively.
[ ] Why you think you were accepted: The overall thing. I mean , im not sure why i was accepted , i dont really think anybody knows why they are accepted/rejected/deferred.
[ ] Where else were you accepted: This was ED. Withdrawing all other applications now.
[ b]General Comments:

I am extremely glad to be the few who actually got into his dream school. If there is anything I can truly advise on is that as much as Extras do count , you have to ensure your grades never fall. Further , don’t follow the crowd , do different things , things that you like and enjoy and will probably take up in the future. Don’t do anything ‘for college’ , it’s all supposed to be done for YOU and your personality development.
For those who were deferred/rejected , I wish you the best of luck for all the other applications , do not feel dispirited . Being accepted and rejected are all part of life , you take whatever you get and move on.
Finally , write your essays in YOUR voice. Being pretentious not only blurs what you yourself want to portray but also shows a fake part of you. Since i was myself throughout this application , I know that dartmouth accepted me for who I truly am and gives me a lot of confidence that I will not only be able to fit in but am going to enjoy the rest of the 4 years.
And finally , for all those who got accepted , I CANNOT WAIT TO MEET YOU GUYS !

General Comments: This is generally what I remember from my daughter’s stats. I may be missing a few things but this gives you the general idea- very active in Sports and Music with some community involvement. Actually lots of community involvement in small things that aren’t really mentionable like helping out when the Girl Scouts or a church group(or some other group she’s not involved with) are putting on some kind of community activity.
I think she is screwed because of her essay.
