*Decision: Accepted *

Stats:

SAT I: 1590 (790 V, 800 M)
SAT II: World History, Math IIC, Writing-800, Chemistry (9th grade)-780
National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction, Candidate for Presidential Scholars, etc.....
Took most rigorous curriculum high school offered, should be able to graduate in 3 years from Dartmouth and other places with the credit I've racked up.

Subjective:

[ul]
[] State or Country: Northeast
[] School Type: Public
[] Major strength/weakness: My solid, well rounded academic profile, standardized test scores, etc, that I am a passionate, curious person and engage in the things that I love. Background may also be a plus. Weakness-Eh, I've focused on music throughout my youth, spending countless hours at my instrument, perfecting my craft, getting state and regional recognition, etc. Looking at how things went for me now, I'm thinking that maybe I would have been better off with another EC, college admissions wise-some politically correct bs that college admissions officers seem to love. However, I wouldn't trade my instrument for the world :).
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: I believe I was accepted to Dartmouth because of my stats, as they seem to be the most stats based of all the Ivies, and because they don't seem to practice any strategic admissions. If you want a great inside look at Dartmouth admissions, read Michelle Hernandez's tome, A is For Admission. Its assesment of the process at the school seems to be in line with reality.

Other Factors:

I was born abroad, a persecuted religious and ethnic minority in my homeland. My parents and I fled from our native country, and arrived in the US when I was but a lad. Since then, I've maintained fluency in two languages, as well as the cultural ties of my past. If that doensn't enhance diversity, I don't know what does.

So here is how admissions has shaped up for me so far:
Accepted-Dartmouth (with a likely), Wash U., Brandeis (Full Tuition merit)
Waitlisted-Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Swarthmore
Rejected-Yale, MIT

I am very happy with the options in front of me, and look forward to attending Dartmouth College next fall, now a very likely possibility. However, I was a bit surprised by the way the process worked out for me. While I considered Harvard and Yale to be serious reaches, I thought I might have better luck at Columbia, Brown, and Swarthmore-especially in light of my Dartmouth likely. I don't understand what happened. Perhaps strategic admissions played a part, as they could have thought I'd get accepted at an HYP and go there, like that happened, heh.
