I scored a 23 on science...oh my god.

Any suggestions on how not to fall asleep while taking the science part?

@ivy: I've been reading some of the preliminary stuff, I like it for the most part...and the tests are fairly accurate (I'm afraid it might be a bit easier, but seriously, not by much). PR seems more thorough, Kaplan was ok and I liked it, but it felt like it was more test-oriented and didn't have as many tips or explanations...either that or I just liked PR's format better. Honestly, choose the book for yourself...I liked PR (maybe because the book was bigger), but I'm not sure, either one is good in my opinion.

@brythe: Drink Gatorade during the break...and remember that if you concentrate for 40 minutes, you could get into your dream school. That should be incentive enough to keep a person up all night!

Hm, the thing is that my SAT score is equivalent to a 33. If I can't score higher than that then there's no point in taking it right now. :

blythe, i know exactly how you feel. When i took the science portion i would get so bored because of all the technical terms, that i couldn't focus, so i always got like a 25 in that section. But then i read sparknotes review notes about how the science section is deliberately filled with impossible technical terms in order to throw people off. knowing that really helped me, because i got a 34 on the science section the last time i took it.

rman, could you clarify your math tips for me? i dont really understand what you mean. it looks like a useful tip though. im just confused about the meaning. thx

My tip is...when u see the last sentence of a math question...UNDERLINE IT or underline any key rules they say...for example:

How many even factors does the number 4909 have? You would underline even to make sure you get what they are asking for. Same goes for any other question...if they give you an equation make sure you know what they want...you could solve for X and right away go to the choices and see it and think ur right..but they could be asking for 7x...so make sure you make a note of that when solving a problem. Underline or whatever.

shark, let's say you have the question: If a man can make 4 batches of cookies with 12 sticks of butter, how many sticks of butter will it take to make 20 batches of cookies....a lot of people will put down 12/4 or 3 sticks of butter because they use the equation 4x=12 and thne x=3, and once you see that x=, you are temped to simply answer...but it asks you a question, not always the simplest.

So basically, read the question backwards because once you read (how much butter for 20 cookies) you have NO IDEA how to do it, but at least you know what to do. Then plug it back in or use proportion ot just do it in your head again, and you should be fine.

We should have an ACT chatroom tonight.

theoneo pm me ur AIM name...thx

this is my third time taking it. i didn't know i had to have a writing score for some of the colleges i'm applying to otherwise i would never want to do this again. blah! standardized testing.
i'm hoping to get a 32 or so. i haven't studied at all except for the writing part.

are you planning on studying at all?

no not really cuz the first time i took the ACT i got a 29 and i studied my butt off. the second time i didn't study at all and i got a 31 which works for me. i don't really need a VERY high score. a 32 would be nice but it doesn't really matter very much a 31 is good for schools i'm applying to

ACT CHAT ROOM...every1 join whos online right now:

ACTCC is the chatroom name

ugh! how do i join?? is it on aim? i dont have aim so if its there then oh well.

eh dont worry no one joined it and yes it was on AIM

Alright, I did a Science, Reading, and an English test so far. Should I take a math, or do part of a math and relax?

if ur math is strong dont bother..ur confident enough...as long as ur confident and feeling good relax..if u aren't then take the section.

You know that paper that we got in the mail a while ago...do we bring it to the test site tomorrow? Anything else I should bring besides my calculator and maybe a snack?

yeah thats the confirmation/admission ticket

Bring your ID
