Official Dec 2012 MATH thread

Sorry guys forgot to elaborate this is dot problem explanation and answer:

because it was consecutive numbers so u take (64+1)/2 and u get the mean to be 32.5 so u multiple that by # of terms: 64 and get 2080

for the k/(d)^2 problem, the answer is 40. You needed to solve for the constant k first with the two values u were given. d=12 and I = 10. u get k = 1440. then solve for I using the k u just solved for and the new distant they give you, which was d=6. so the answer is 40.

For the Dot problem… Was there another answer that was 2086 or am I remembering that wrong?

what was the one with the greenhouse and perimeter of the fence?

I forget the actual answer to k/d^2 but k was a constant you had to solve for then plug back into the equation. because they gave you d and I, solve for k (which iirc was 1440) and then in the second part d=6 i think? then you just did 1440/36 (6^2 = 36) and there was the answer.

What about the circle where there was a 60 degree angle and it asked for the x coord?

yay i got the ellipse question, ok what exactly was the dot question asking? I don’t seem to be able to remember it

noxsing previous page as well i explained the dot problem as well as answer

I was asking about the question where the diameter was 40, and there was an angle of 60 degrees that started at where the diameter hit the right end of the circle. It asked for the x coord of the point at which the line hit the other end of the circle. read my question please lol. Answer choices 10 or 15?

SAT, I chose 10. But I’m not sure if that’s the answer.

I put 10…but i wasnt sure.

i guessed 15 but i was rushed for time and just looked at it and made a guess. 15 seemed to make the most sense to me though.

I was not expecting math to be this hard. Last time I took the ACT I got a 34 on math from -2. This time I’m honestly expecting like -7

Pretty sure it’s 10. No mathematical proof via #'s just eye-balling it on that one, but fairly confident.

it was 10, halfway from O(0,0) to B(0,20) since CBO was 60 degree triangle

Do you know if that answer was J? 2080 was J or was J 2086?

It was 10 guys

I made way too many dumb mistakes this time.

its ten because if you have an equilateral triangle (the one made by the chord was 30 60 90) then it would cause that point to be in thwe middle making it 10

damnit thats like the first math question i guessed wrong on.

What’s a -6 on the math? is it always like a 31 or does it change with a curve? because from what im hearing this math test was a lot harder than previous ones.
