Official Dec 2012 READING thread

@waddup
ah crap you may be right. I don’t even remember it that well but I had thought that it was the natural environment

what was the science one about what the passage says most strongly about mangroves?

@kim7564. The answer to placing everything in chronological was she first sent her music to be considered to be selected or something like that.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using CC

Anyone remember the kit fox question/answer? For the ‘real’ environment. Now I’m having doubts

i think it was a place untouched by humans. because it said that normally, they would burrow underground for shelter, but in the city they have to use other things for shelter

For the chronological one, it was that she picked her piece first…

@Fjghas Yeah, I was not sure on that one either, I think I guesses that it was ones that lived in an urban environment (probably got it wrong)

For the real environment, I am almost positive it was the natural surroundings without human intervention. The sentence before it said something about humans and it contrasted this with their “real” surroundings.

Yeah i said natural environment unaffected.

I think people have to realize that this isn’t the SAT and the amount of interpretation is miniscule. I don’t think the ACT people expected us to dive deep into the reasons for the quotations around “real”

Yeah that one was pretty straight forward to me. I am not second guessing my answer.

The last portion of the reading seemed easy, but then again, it “seemed” easy. Do you think there will be a curve? I think I might have gotten a -6 in reading (horrible), what score do you think that will be? Thing with the reading is, if you spend just two minutes extra on one passage, your are somewhat hurried. You have to be extremely strict with regards to timing…

what was the science one about what the passage says most strongly about mangroves?

Agreed for the timing thing. I got off in October and it messed it all up. Anyways I would guess a -6 might be 28? 29? It depends. Look at practice test curves.

Do you guys think our scores will be out before private school apps are due at the beginning of january? I really want to know my score so I can decide whether to send my SAT scores or not

Funny how all CCers talk about every ACT so intensely. I think people really tend to look at the ACT as if it is something major…it is in a way but…comeon, there are much deeper meanings to a person than an ACT score. It is important…but IMO, it depends mainly on how you feel on that particular day…

They start releasing them the 26th so you should be fine as long as the school accepts them online. I said it says mangroves allow other animals and plants shelter or protection or something. If we are talking about the same question.

I will be lucky to get a 30-31 Composite this time…so frustrating that colleges focus on this as much as they do…damn ACT

Yeah, thats what I put…how long do you think most of you have studied for the ACT (total time put into studying for an ACT…since birth)

Anything over 30, but preferably over 32, looks amazing to even the most selectives…you have to realize that they also look at individual section scores.

“Anything over 30, but preferably over 32, looks amazing to even the most selectives…you have to realize that they also look at individual section scores.”

Are you kidding? There are schools with a 32 being the 25th percentile of acceptances. It’s ridiculous.

yeah you’re not truly safe until you get like a 34.
