Official December 10th ACT Science Discussion

there were two questions in one section where the answer choices were something about decreasing or increasing. it was the section with the voltages and one of them was the first question in the section. i think for that one i put increasingly only and im pretty sure about that then in the same section i put decreasing only because the numbers in the chart decreased and the graph decreased but im not 100% sure does anyone remember these questions?

I got towards for both. Weren’t both of the velocities positive?

and for the batteries I got twice that the capacitors were uncharged.

Were these questions difficult because of the hardcore science involved or because of the complexity of wording combined with severe lack of time?

i think the science involved. I got consistent 34/36’s on science practice tests with time included because usually it was simple chart reading. Also, what was the conflicting viewpoint one for science? if there even was one, there wasnt much emphasis on it (was it the darkness and lightness with light).

Both. I would read a question and it would go like this:

Reading question

Wait, What?

Reads question again

Matches question info with charts

Took way too long.

I put away and towards…

Science is the one section that I always get 36s on in every practice test I’ve ever taken and I just ran out of time this time. I had to completely guess on the last 3

Science was absurd. It doesn’t even test cognition, simply speed and practice.

Plain and simple science section was hard.
Here are the answers I remember.
Passage1 Pretty easy
7. Was none of the experiments unsupported the hypothesis
Passage 2 average
Upsloping graph
10 minutes runoff time
Climate was the controlled variable
High grazed, less vegetation, less protection to erosion
Passage 3
10v
Increasing for q when switch is closed
Decreasing when discharging
Capacitor was uncharged
Passage iv
Increasing and decreAsing ion radius as the atomic number increases
Aluminum liquid sodium glasses
Upsloping curve
Passage 5
Single and 0 Percent
One Parent walnut one parent other d this is the One where I had 3dj answers
Passage 6
Away and toward
10 meters
-4m/s
Passage 7 hardest one!!!
26and30
Between 80 something
All was caco3 in the substance
Last one I put b

what kind of curve are you guys expecting for the science?

I’m pretty sure I missed 2.

also, what letter was negative 4 for that question?

I’m begging you to say G.

Was it climate the controlled variable or the type of “soil”?

Look at my post and can you guys add or concur

It was climate soil where different

Do you remember the specifics of the away and toward question?
I’m pretty sure I put toward and then away.

where it said q= 0 in the chart at the top of the page (time was at the beginning), i thought it was a continuation of the last question so i thought the battery was fully charged.

Also, DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE LAST 3 SCIENCE QUESTIONS?? I’m freaking out about this. I guessed C, B, D (it was 38, 39, 40 in the Caco3 part.)
for 38 I know choices a and b had to do with pressure… and question 40 had to do with x and y

Nothing in the question said anything about climate

This science section definitely sucked. I remember putting -4 m/s. What did you all put for the question asking Vxz or something like that? I had no clue and guessed some negative answer (was either A or B)

Also, what did you put for the soil erosion vs vegetation? I remember that heavily grazed had the highest runoff time and highest erosion (i think), so I said it was the least vegetated and quickest eroding.

For the phenotypes one the answer was easily derived from POE. Like it was really simple. It was D right? or am I lookin real stupid now.
