<p>Nahh it’s not bad at all, given that you DO NOT get to pick your dorms.</p>
<p>You go through what’s called CHARMS (forget what it stands for) but its like a roommate facebook (only without pictures), but ppl end up facebooking each other anyways… it’s really a 50/50, but taht’s freshmen year for you…</p>
<p>Regarding the residence halls, I stayed at Georgetown for 3 weeks this summer and I was not impressed with the dorms at all. I was in Village C West, an the security was lax at the front door (it was usually just some college student sitting at the desk you were supposed to swipe your card at, but they never said anything if you didn’t swipe), the door to the stairwell on my floor was never locked because the handle was broken, my room’s door was one of the few that locked on the entire floor, the windows were extremely heavy and didn’t stay open (some kid had actually lost a finger when it got caught as the window slammed shut; we were warned of this within the first few days of our stay), the bathroom shelves were over the toilet (not the greatest idea haha), another room on our floor turned off the air conditioning and within two weeks mold was growing across the floor, and we avoided using the elevator because it would often break down in between floors (this happened twice while I was there, luckily never while I was in it). So yeah, not the greatest experience. Plus, Prospect Avenue is the street that many college girls apparently get raped on as they stumble home (often drunk) to their apartments. I suppose that’s why many Georgetown students move off campus… </p>
<p>Of course, I have no idea if all of the dorms are like that or if every student’s experience is even remotely similar to mine, but I just wanted to throw it out there. Georgetown’s website is very vague regarding residence halls, and I think I can probably hazard a guess as to why based off of what I experienced. Nevertheless, I will say the dorms were livable–just do not expect to be pampered while living there ;)</p>
<p>I stayed at Georgetown for a week this summer. However, I lived in Copley, an upperclass dorm. I found it quite comfortable, and it really met all of everyone’s needs. I agree about the security; we had the same type of situation with the student guards. I have to think that it is probably better during the academic year though. But, overall, I thought that Copley was great, but I don’t think that it is an option for freshmen.</p>

<p>Pros:</p>
<p>~Private Bathrooms are nice, any way you slice it
~The AC works well. At my high school, it doesn’t and it sucks.
~It’s conveniently located roughly in the middle of campus. I’d much rather be there than Darnell.
~Each floor had a little kitchen in the common room, which I’ll probably make use of if I get in.
~Personally, my lock was fine, I’ve also had no trouble with the elevators, though I’ve heard the stories. Lucky I guess?</p>
<p>Cons:</p>
<p>~One of my socks and my electric razor flel into the toilet. I echo nstar’s sentiments there. Shevles above toilet = BAD IDEA
~The window thing was a real problem. You can’t keep those things open.
~The rooms are livable, but rather small.
~ Personally, my room’s small shelf with coat hangers was broken and slanted.
~ Security was lax, though it might be different during the school year.
~ There’s no laundry in VCW. You need to go to VCE or McCarthy. </p>
<p>Actually most of that was already articulated, but eh, I don’t much care.</p>
<p>And to hopefulhoya, that’s pretty cool. I actually live in Liverpool, but it’s so close to the cuse yknow? </p>
<p>Have you gotten any flak from friends of family about wanting to be a hoya? Occasionally people ask me where I want to go to college and scoff when I respond with Gtown.</p>
