<p>Our proctor forgot to tell us when 5 minutes was up every single time. Except the last time, she remembered about 30 seconds into it and say "oh guys... listen up... sorry, I forgot again... theres now 30 seconds left" but by the time she finished saying that the timer went off anyway. Blah.</p>

<p>My Proctor was strict and the test center sucked.</p>
<p>I was breezing... My feet were frozen to my shoes, and the heater was on the left side of me. To many school are so cheap. The desks were making noise and so small. The car that was sitting in the parking lot was warmer than the building. It is so cold in new jersey.</p>
<p>Plus we could barely find the test center.</p>
<p>Woodbridge sucks. Never go there again.</p>
<p>that sucks whatittakes, oklahoma was pretty spacey. Well, at least our school is spacey and well maintained.</p>

<p>she actually started the part at 10:27 but she wrote 10:25 - 11:00 on the board</p>

<p>I had the same problems as you guys.</p>
<p>The proctors couldn't read a clock, first off - it was 8:50 and they put 9:50 on the board. That wasn't a huge issue.</p>
<p>However, another one was. One of the proctors decides to write the time on the board "8:50". Unfotunately, it was 8:50 at that moment and the other proctor was still reading those monotonous directions. She kept on reading for like 3 minutes, and we're wondering if she's gonna give us some more time. They did. Too bad it was only 1 minute.</p>
<p>Another problem occurred with the reading section. The proctors decided once again that they don't know how to add. They miscalculated the 5 mins. left time and the subsequent stop time. So, when it comes like 2 minutes from the wrong 5 minute stop time, one of them laughingly says, "Oh oops...(hehehe)...You guys only have 2 minutes left. We wrote it wrong on the board...." </p>
<p>I'm pretty sure everyone was majorly ****ed by the end of it. They didn't even let us crack open our books until we started the writing section. Went something like, "Ok...you have 45 minutes...read the directions and begin."
We're all blank-faced and then we decide to just break open the book and go. And then she goes, "Oh yeah...open your books first." She changed the time correctly, but it just showed once again how incompetent they were.</p>
<p>Those of you with bad proctors should certainly write letters to ACT. This test, for many, decides a great deal of where one will spend your next four years of their life; proctors that are so daft as to not be able to keep time straight for national testing do not deserve donuts. Any donuts.</p>

<p>i had a protracter who walked around and marked on a piece of paper where kids didn't mark off answers, then she went around and see if they randomly cheated by marking in answers from teh sections form b4. </p>

i understand teh no cheating thing, but isn't that a lil extreme? also shes a techer at my school and she is so nasty. like yelling screaming, handing out F's to kids she hates, and don't know how to teach and type her reports for her master's degree class while we sit there not understanding what we are supposed to do nasty.</p>
<p>Wow you guz had some seriousy bad proctors. sr6622 you should let ACT know b/c 2 or 3 mins is a huge disadvantage especially if it were on the science or reading which require every single second</p>
<p>I had a proctor one time who could barely speak english...
Another time the fire alarm went off and they came over the intercom system in the school and told us to "continue normal test-taking procedures" so for 20 minutes during the science test the fire alarm was going off...</p>
<p>This time some kid rushed in late and came in the door on the left and the proctor told him to go to the next room because he was in the wrong one, then he walked in the door on the right and she told him to "try the next door... again."</p>

In some of your cases, you could get a free test; at least ACT will have a chance to get those test centers in line.</p>
<p>betterday, you should also complain that the desks were too close together and describe the bumping.</p>
<p>EISD, it sounds like a mark on the list of testers that the test center gets, it's not anything to do with your materials. So don't worry.</p>

<p>You are absolutley right. It's important to take into account proctors can be teachers who figure they might as well get paid to spend a Saturday morning grading papers to just about anyone desperate enough to make $50. You should absolutley fill out that complain form. If nothing else you're helping to keep other kids from having to deal with morons and you may get a free retake. Further, proctors are not allowed to touch whatever you're working on unless they have probable cause, so that psycho should not have been marking your answer sheets. Those marks could screw up grading, after all, you wouldn't write there for fear of screwing up the scanning machine.</p>
<p>Still, that doesn't help the fact you wasted a Saturday but is a start. You have an ACT Bill of Rights, USE THEM!</p>

It sounded like the proctor was using his/her own paper to take notes about which answers were left blank, and then checking them again later, not marking on kids' answer sheets. The former would be legitimate if rather anal, but the latter would definitely be something someone should complain about.</p>
