***Official December 9 ACT Math Thread****

letter s the one in beween r and t

and it was linear equation
for y= f(x)

*** its a trig function

ONE OF THE QUESTIONS DID NOT HAVE A CORRECT ANSWER

I talked about it with a few of my friends, and we all agree that one of the math questions did not have a correct answer listed. It was the one where you make something more expensive (I think it may have been milk jugs... I don't quite remember), and consequently, less people buy it. Anyone remember this problem? The answer is supposed to have the second term divided (as opposed to multiplied) by 3.

Oh and to whoever was talking about the sin problem, where the answer was E, why would you plug in numbers? You know that sin is opposite over hypotenuse (woohoo sohcahtoa), and the opposite side was constant for all of them, so it would be the triangle with the longest hypotenuse.

the second to last problem on the math section, with the number/letter-line A,B,C,D, and they said that B was the midpoint between A and C, and D was like as long as AC. They asked what the total length was, and they only told you that AB was X, and AC was like 3X-2 or something like that. The answer depends on what X is! !?!?

hey 8dborderl...i got 63D also
gopumas
i think ur right
like i think i got the answer right
but i dont thinl there was a possible way to solve it with the info they gave because they didnt give a single whole integer except 3 (which was part of how long cd was
i think they screwed up royally on this act
like
i found at least 3 questions/problems that had errors or were missing info

there was this one in the english where none of the answers fit right at all

i put trig function also...it was a sine graph (or cosine dont remember)

Math - pretty easy except a couple of problems were challenging

Form 63D

-9:59 or 405
-24 - factors that don't multiply together
-Matrix- k=-3
-last problem = pie
-Area of shape in the grid - 23
- 1 mile equals .05 gallon used - correct statement
-44 sodas sold
- the inequality with b = got A
- lowest sine was E, the farthest to the right
- x^5 + y^5 =1- can't be true
- Trig function

That's the consolidated list that I can remember.

whatittakes, last problem is pi, not pie lol (i do that all the time too dont worry)

and its def. a trig function

also, length of line with points A,B,C,D is 24

for the number machine, was it the second to last answer? (0,0,1,1)

I believe it was (1,1,0,0) or something. Yes, second to last.

i think that one was (1,1,1,0)

I think I remember it saying the last two had to be 0 to have an output of 1...

i quite sure im right.

square means both 1 to make 1 or anything else is zero.
triangle shows either 1 or zero to make one. therefore

box
box
triangle

so , 1, 1, 1, 0 ( since box must be both 1 and 1 at the end, you cant have zeroes - since two zeroes for triangle makes it 0).

yayyy! i think i got that one!

I know i got this right, (1,1,0,0)

Go backward from the last thing to the middle and then to the first.

You have to get this. I'm 100 positive on this one.

mm.... i got 1100

i guess we'll see

I've a question, on parts like a+b^2 and b=-2. is it a+4, or a-4?
and for X^0+Y^0, is the sum always 1 ?

sum is always 2

^0 always is 1, so (#^0)+(#^0) = 1+1 = 2

yea, i meant 2, sorry.
Good got that one right.
What about the a+b^2 thing i mentioned? whats the answer?

Good to hear that the 1,1,0,0 answer is correct; I was getting a little edgy.
