~~Official December SAT Discussion Thread~~

one of the writing section has the topic of something about working together as a group when they go on some kind of tournament or something.. i dont exactly remember.

my essay question was saying are you more productive and successful if you dont listen to peoples opinions.....i had nothing to write about

I took the same test as you Stuck-on-1700...

u and i had same essay topic swim2daend
it was pretty STUPID..... i put like nonsense examples to try to make sound smart! :-)

I HATED my essay topic - the Abe Lincoln one about whether happiness is within the control of our minds. I had NO examples that really fit, so I just BSed it all the way (I know everyone BSes it, but I did some really weird, structurally incorrect things...).

And then the proctor didn't announce 5 mins to time (they always do where I take it!), so I wrote a really crappy last sentence as my conclusion embedded in my 3rd body paragraph...!

haha same....i didnt even get to finish aand when they called time i realized i barely answered the topic question so i screwed that up

Did anyone use literay examples for the ignoring opinions essay?

haha i had the ignorance essay and i thought it sucked

I mentioned Bill Clinton economic success due to NOT ignoring others opinions.

I mentioned Oedipus Rex and how he ignored others opinions abotu fate and ultimately his life sucked.

And I mentioned how Harry Truman had the resolve to drop the atomic bombs in spite of potential opinions otherwise.

My essay wasn't very good though.

It was 5 paragraphs, but i didn't use language very well and kinda rushed toward teh end.

O well.

I seriously scribbled toward the end. I'm pretty sure it would be illegible even to me...

I used Antigone as an example of ignoring opinions, you think that will work?

i used siddhartha. how he ignored the opinion of the elder buddha and went on his own path to find nirvana

anything could really work if the explanations are good and make sense
i even put like john rockefeller dominating oil industry in gilded age which dont really make sense but i made something up so it sounds persuasive

wow. ~~~10

on ignoring opinions i used Abe Lincoln, Holden Caulfield, George Patton

Are the international tests comprised of the same sections?

is it ok that i used 2 literature examples forthe essay instead of a "variety" of support like history and ce etc>?

They're usually not. Most of the time everything, including the essay topiv and passages, is different.

For those of you who had the Abe Lincoln Happiness essay; what examples did you use? I couldn't think of anything good to write; no literary examples came to mind. So I made up a really dumb personal experience that I thnik may be off topic lol.
