Today I got my official decision letter from UT. Basically it was just big apology. They talked about how qualified I was and how sure they were that I had "perhaps many very attractive opportunities."

They went on how it "pains us to lose good students." It concluded with the wait list offer and the CAP offer.

I understand that this was meant to be encouraging but it kind of just rubbed salt in the wound. I know UT wants the best for everyone and I'm probably just being over-sensitive but it really frustrated me.

I'd like to know other's thoughts on their letters.

What’s CAP? Does it apply to transfer applicants? Can’t you appeal?

I’m sorry to hear that! If it’s any consolation, none of the three acceptance letters I got from UT and Cockrell were any good, haha.

Thai - CAP = Coordinated Admissions Program, and no it isn’t offered to transfer students, just freshman applicants. If they accept it, they go to another UT campus for a year and if they meet the minimum GPA they are guaranteed a transfer back to Austin, but if I understand correctly, it’s similar to the 10% law in that they can get back to Austin but not necessarily their first choice major.
