** Official Decision Thread EA Class of 2013 **

i thought they mailed letters on the 15th...
so now i'm stressing about it because there's no post today!

^aristophanes: i agree as well
^iomr: ND is one of top 20 schools in the country and offers one of the best education.

i went out to the mail box today anyway. you never know

btw, those who've been accepted, what are you planning to study?

Has anyone been deferred or denied yet?????????

I'm sure people have been denied or deffered they just aren't on CC or are too embarassed to put it up

^Oh, I'm sure they have, but understand their position-if you'd just been deferred or rejected from your dream school, wouldn't it be a bit painful to go amongst those who were jubilant and post your stats? Personally, I won't be contributing if I don't get in.

Aristophanes, you do know Stanford isn't Ivy, right? Just checking. I agree with you, though-people who are determined to go for an Ivy ususally do so for the wrong reasons. This is very apparent where I live-New England-where everyone utterly reveres the Ivies.

Example-a girl in my class loves Middlebury, and would be a much better fit intellectually there, but applied to Yale EA (and doesn't have a chance) because of the pressure her parents put on her.

^I agree and wouldn't have posted my stats either

I dont understand how the letters were able to get to Orange County California before Texas. I mean honestly.

I literally went to the post office today to see if there was any way I could beg them to hand me my letter right then..

And for the record, the Stanford SCEA thread is really ridiculous; I never would have expected to see kids with 1600s be outright rejected EA.

Yeeeeees, I know that Stanford isn't an Ivy. Just using the Ivies as an obvious example in diagnosing a common disease.

DECISION ACCEPTED!!

D was accepted Saturday (Minnesota) been kind of busy and excited to post.

post stats later. Congrats to all.

@Aristophanes:

Please don't misunderstand me: the University of Notre Dame is a wonderful school and my first choice to attend (an opinion that is completely unrelated to its admissions rate). If I do end up attending the university, I will be deeply honored to go to such an academically challenging school with such a rich history. The comparison was more to point out the extremely low (in my opinion, absurd) admission percentage of Stanford this year. I am very sorry if I offended anyone, was just trying to be a little witty.

No offense taken, iomr. It just can't be stressed enough that there are superb schools outside the HYPS bubble, and there are so many students out there who truly aren't aware of the opportunities they're missing out on. Notre Dame hardly qualifies as a well-kept secret, but most people who have heard of it but never visited would probably be blown away by the experience. It is in fact extremely selective, but it really shouldn't matter if ALL of its applicants were accepted if they were qualified. Your purpose in going there is to learn and to have epiphanies, and it's highly unlikely that you would ever regret choosing it.

I AM IIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
will do stats later :)

My son was accepted, very nice, he was a legacy but I beleive he would have gotten in anyway, with a 34 ACT, good grades, EC's etc....
