Phew. Hope this condensed thread is helpful to future Wharton applicants!

Feel free to comment or add stats.

Thank you so much travelbug i love you! :D

Wow…thank you and congrats!

My pleasure! And thank you :D

Not a problem. See you next year!!

I have a strong feeling that if you had not been accepted, you would not have gone through the trouble of making this travelbug, haha, acceptance into college makes people do good things.

Actually … 20 Accepted!! Don’t forget me I’m so excited I can’t wait!

Are you only including single degree admits? If not don’t forget me too!

@ TheWikiMan- Haha, that might be true…

@ kaykay766- I’m so sorry! I posted your stats, but somehow missed your username in the list in #20! Including your acceptance, that means that (again, worst case scenario) 20 out of 43 CCers were accepted ED to Wharton, for a 46.5% acceptance rate.

@Quantifier- These were only to single-degree Wharton ED kids; I copy-and-pasted their stats from the Penn ED Decisions thread, but did not include any dual-degree applicants’ posts. But congratulations on the health care management program!!

Congrats again to skaggs, kaykay766 , TheWikiMan, Quantifier & all the other new Penn and Wharton '15ers! Best of luck to all RD applicants.

Based on this Wharton’15 list, I couldn’t find any IB student was accepted by Wharton. Almost all the studnets accepted by Wharton are AP students. Does this mean Wharton prefer AP student to IB student?

I was accepted to Wharton and I was an “AP student” but I have talked to some of my soon to be classmates, and there have been quite a few IB students, maybe 5-6 that I definitely know of. They are seen equally so don’t worry about that.

Reflection
Strengths: Pure stats, unique internship experiences, to-be published research paper?
Weaknesses: Essays, essays, essays. Having pretty average EC’s. No major awards. No business-related activities. Pretty much everything
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Honestly, seeing all the amazing stats of those who got deferred/rejected I feel extremely lucky to have even been deferred. I have no idea what put me in that defer pile instead of the reject pile. Perhaps I stood out with my math/sci EC’s just enough so that they didn’t straight up reject me? That being said, I think this is just further testament to how random the entire application process is.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Nowhere else so far

General Comments: To the accepted: Congratulations!! All of your hard work finally paid off!! Now you can chill and enjoy the rest of senior year haha
To the deferred: There is still hope for RD!
To the rejected: Don’t give up hope, this is just one school. There are many more amazing schools out there. Apply to some, and I’m confident you will end up somewhere amazing!
*Note to future applicants: start working on your essays early, like August early! You may think that you have enough time to write them in a week or a few days, but trust me that is not the case! I had to learn that the hard way.
Again, I feel veryy lucky to have been deferred. There were a lot of rejectees I saw who definitely deserved to be deferred more than me. Good luck to all!

Sorry, this may be not the right place to post this question. But I believe many of you in this list can answer this question. Does anyone know which IB math class (SL vs. HL) is required for Wharton admission? I am in the middle of choosing IB courses for my junior year. I want to know if I can take IB math SL course so that I can reduce my workload. But I also don’t want to pick the wrong course and minimize my qualification in Wharton admission. I am shooting for a full IB diploma and I will have 4 HL IB classes if I have to take Math HL class. I am not sure if I can handle 4 HL classes well in terms of time management. thanks for your help.

Reflection
Strengths: GPA / Class Rank / Hardest Curriculum at my H.S.
Weaknesses: SAT CR and Writing, Didn’t know to do whatever I could to be involved with research in summers instead of following my passions (as recommended by Penn Admissions presentations). H.S. doesn’t allow students to take APs before junior year (so will only finish with 8)
Why you think you were Deferred: In reading from others on CC after being deferred, it seems to have been because I hadn’t taken AP Physics and Chem before Senior year. The way my HS structures things, it wasn’t a possibility while continuing with a foreign language all years of HS. I also didn’t perform any research even though I live across the Puget Sound from closest research universities. It would have helped had I thought through the critical need of including an engineering pursuit for my college education earlier in HS. It likely would have led me to seek other opportunities that weren’t offered at my H.S. Sigh.
General Comments:
It is wierd that, after being deferred by Wharton, I have been placed back in the pool for M&T-Regular where I checked the box on the Penn Supplement to SOLELY be considered for Wharton. I’ve continued to keep my 4.0 while having AP Chem and Physics first semester. I’m also in application process for summer research opportunities (but its likely too little too late for Penn - but much better experience and money than just getting a summer job, so I’m kind of psyched about those potentials).

I haven’t totally given up on Penn, but I’m reading up a lot more on the schools I am in (Michigan and GA Tech) and others still outstanding (Carnegie Mellon, and other reach schools MIT and Stanford). Maybe Wharton for my MBA?
