Favorite character - The characters from the novel Trainspotting and how they exemplified that good qualities are present within every individual. Thing to talk to the official person about - Recycling because my town/city doesn’t do any of it.

Congratulations to all who were accepted, and I’m sorry to those of you who were waitlisted/rejected. I know some of you are pretty bummed. For me, though, I think Barnard made the right decision. I added them to my list of colleges rather impulsively in November and, although I visited and interviewed, I have to say that my applying to Barnard was more based on a love for New York City than a passion for the actual school. After doing some research, I don’t think I would have fit in here. I like bigger schools that are located right in the midst of city life (can you guess which is my number one?). But anyway, I’m not too upset about the rejection. I’m glad that it gives someone who’s probably more passionate about Barnard a chance to go. Right now I’m between NYU and George Washington. NYU is has been my sole number one for over a year, but GW gave ridiculously good aid…so…hmmm…

Good luck to all of you guys in choosing your colleges!

rejected , but there’s always Bryn Mawr, which I’m falling in love with everyday, good luck to the ones who got in! :)

Barnard was (and still is!) my first choice and I am extremely disappointed by this recent turn of events. I really felt that I built a positive and frequent relationship with the admissions team at visits, interviews, their visit to my school etc.
I have been waitlisted at many schools that I should have gotten into, including 2 of my safety schools, and feel that those and hopefully this are just a reflection of the influx of applicants. The article in the NYT about paying for an education making it easier to get in made me seethe–parents do not earn a lot. But they’re fulfilled and happy because they do what they love. Hence my plans to be a theater/classics major.

Waitlisted at a bunch of schools…
I agree, I assumed all the Anxiety thread would be accepted by default.

On the other hand, got into Notre Dame and got KILLER FA from Vassar so all is not lost.

Should I stay on the waitlist, do you think? Can I accept another offer anyway?

squaregirl - Sucks for Barnard, but good luck on your other schools! That does soften the blow a bit, doesn’t it?

Simply lily - as a Barnard mom, here is what I will tell you:
Go to Vassar !

Really – that “killer financial aid” is a message that is coming from the college where you are meant to be.

i’m going to Bryn Mawr or maybe Spelman, if they hurry up and tell me my decision lol, but Congrats to everyone else! Maybe Barnard wasn’t right for me…:)

I got in! It’s actually really funny, I only applied JUST IN CASE, and never thought I’d g to a womens college. But I think I’m going, and it’s not like I don’t have other options. I didn’t realize how close the Barnard Columbia relationship is.

Actually, on my Wellesley interview, my interviewer (before knowing I applied) told me she thought I was a Barnard girl. She said becuase of my attitude and clothes, ahah.
Hope to see some of you next year

calmom - It warms me up to read your post. I would have loved to study in NY, but I’m not that attached to Barnard and it’s not like Vassar is on the other side of the country…

How is your experience as a Barnard mom so far, though?

kmhuether - LOL, what are the differences between them?

lol…what did you wear that made her think of you as a barnad girl?

haha yeah i’m really curious to hear what makes you a Barnard girl because of what you were wearing.
