Dog, if I were you, I'd probably choose NU over Rice.

Icymoon, I asked the same question on the Rice board and they all seemed in favor of Rice (obviously b/c it was the Rice board). What is the basis for your opinion, as of now, I am leaning towards NW b/c I think it has stronger departments in more areas than Rice does and is more of a name brand school than Rice is.

Yeah, I also applied to Rice as well (but deferred ID), so I'm kind of surprised I got into NU. I agree, I think NU has, overall, stronger departments than Rice and I also prefer the Evanston location more than Houston.

Anyway, you can't go wrong with either of the schools... so just go where you feel you will be most happy and successful.

Do you think being waitlisted at NU is a bad sign for admission at the others?? if you have any thoughts that would be GREAT, I am kinda freaked out... :( thanks for any advice

Can you guys indicate what school at NU you applied to? Thanks.

Hey Adam, Congrats! what school did you apply to?

Weinberg (A+S)

spooky69- if you didnt get into northwestern, I wouldn't consider chicago a safety. They're practically the same admissions-wise. Key workd: practically

i applied to WCAS, to answer someone's question above.

and spooky, i agree with freakish. uchicago is a great and very competitive school. don't be fooled by the high admission rate; chicago kids are pretty self-selective. that said, i still think you have a shot everywhere.

yeah my college counselor told me that would be a fine safety....then i read the adm stats in february!! anyway i was just wondering if a waitlisting at northwestern means bad things for the other schools. anyone??

(im sorry i dont mean to dominate the thread with this!! i just cant stand having this hanging over my head!!!)

No one can answer this for you. I felt the same way. I didnt get in, nto even deferred, Columbia ED, and I was worried that it might spell doom for other ivies, northwestern, etc... But we all jsut have to wait and see, and thankfully, its pretty soon.

thanks for the input. good luck next year!

next year?

umm i meant in college next september...but if you want, good luck w/your letters too ;)
