1984Pom: I think a lot of the students in BioE are thinking of med school, however my son probably isn’t. Kind of what Emmers said: It was more of a strategy for him: you can transfer out, but not in, is why he went into it. That being said, I think he finds the curriculum interesting and is doing some tissue engineering research already as a freshman with a BioE Professor. As a Freshman, he is taking classes with students from other majors, so he is not constantly being compared to BioE students and his grades have been very good. I cannot say what his grades will be like as he gets into upper level courses. Honestly, if my son was truly interested in Med School, I think he would have opted to go to a less competitive and cheaper (but still very good) University like U of Iowa, Michigan State, or Pitt.

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: From my school, the acceptances were very random. There were people with better GPAs rejected, while kids below the top 5% got in. I’m guessing that they put a lot of weight on the essays. [/li][/ul]**General Comments: Start your college search in the summer. Stay organized and also make sure you have a clear idea of what the schools are looking for. If your time and money are going to be invested in completing these apps, you might as well make it the best damn application you can. Also once you send in your applications stop worrying and focus on the other things in your life. Being paranoid and worrisome will not affect your decision. You will know your decision in time, so there’s no use in fretting over it. **

I didn’t expect this outcome.
I first thought I made stupid mistake. (ex.applying to associate’s degree)
But it seems I did things right.

I got into engineering (comp sci) as an out of state. Where are all the denied stats? I’m starting to really wonder if they really accepted most of the out of state applicants…

if you got denied your not exactly gonna go around telling ppl…
