...Rejected. My application all together was terrible; I felt the entire time like I didn't know why I was trying to graduate a year early from high school and jump into something way over my head, and I know it showed in my essays. I don't feel like posting stats because they're just plain silly.

Anyway, I decided I made a mistake in trying to get out of high school early, so I'm staying an extra year. Going to try again next year, I think, and attempt to look at more than just Caltech and CU-Boulder (a place I don't want to be).

Don't understand why you'd apply to a place you don't want to be. There are other options that you should explore to apply to places where you DO want to be--there are over 3000 schools to choose among, surely some of them will want you & be attractive to you.

I will try to transfer there later. Caltech is my dream school, and will forever be!!!

Sometimes, I wish I stayed in high school... ;) Like, now... To see where I would have ended up in this process. Of course, an acceptance one year might be a rejection another.

Well, I was just accepted to Harvard, which I'm thrilled about. Unfortunately, because of a committment I made in a letter a few months ago, I have to enroll there- meaning I have to give up one hell of a school.

Thanks anyway to everyone who helped answer my questions!

BlueElmo
Waitlist has varied from 5 to 50 or so in last few years. Look up some of the old threads. Be sure to send a note (e-mail) about your accomplishments since you applied, your desire to matriculate at Caltech, and possibly additional recommendations.
good luck!
