Still... Haven't... Heard...

Argh.

still havent heard here in san francisco. has anybody RD?

Yes, I heard today. I called in. The woman was very happy to tell me my decision. (I got in.) Call your regional representative (you can find out who that is on the Reed website). A bunch of people on the Reed2009 LiveJournal community said they had called in, so I e-mailed my rep, and she said to call, and that she'd be more than happy to tell me my decision. Call to find out! You can also check out the Reed2009 LJ, just go to livejournal.com and search for Reed2009.

Peace
B

hmm, i dont know that i would want to hear over the phone. thats kinda messed up, and would suck if i dont get in, even worse, because I would probably do something bad like cuss at teh lady over teh phone.. not that itd matter... well anyways, did she say anything about when tehy got mailed?

She did mention something about getting an admitted students packet in the next few days, and I think she said I'd get an e-mail tomorrow, but I wasn't that concerned with that, since I already found out. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

B

P.S. Consider calling, it's nice to have it be a more personal thing rather than just an e-mail. Or maybe I'm just saying that because I was accepted; I might have felt the other way if I hadn't gotten in, I don't know. But consider it.

PS, What HS in SF do you go to?

Sacred Heart Cathedral... why, do you live in the bay area?

No, nevermind. I have friends at University and Urban and Marin Academy.

B

OK, I just got an acceptance e-mail about an hour ago (1:30 PM EST, 3/29).
If you didn't get one yet, don't worry, they're not all sent out at once I think.
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Showed interest in the school, and interview went very well.
[/ul]Other Factors:
A lot of E.C.s.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I never actually finished the application since I was accepted to Carleton under E.D. II, so I didn't even think I was going to receive a response from Reed. It was my #2, right behind Carleton, so it is kind of a bittersweet acceptance.

ACCEPTED:

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 1360. 720 v 640m
[] SAT IIs: 800 world history, 760 u.s. history, 620 writing, IC score was atrocious
[] GPA: 3.7ish unweighted. probably over 4 weighted.
[] Rank: 40ish/300ish. unweighted.
[] Other stats: ????
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: my first essay was morbid and so not very college appy. but that's me so I'm not going to write a cheery happy future essay. the why reed essay was even more out there. try third person dialogue between a pretend person experiencing divine intervention.
[] Teacher Recs: I assume my math teacher wrote a good one. my other teacher forgot so I had to have someone else do one AFTER the deadline. it was very praiseworthy.
[] Counselor Rec: two pages long. I thought it was too rosy but that's okay.
[] Hook (if any): do I look like a fish?
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Seattle washington
[] School Type: Public. better than average. still sucks though.
[] Ethnicity: half white half korean. actually, I'm like 1/8th cherokee but that's a negligible amount and I can't prove it since no one on my dad's side of the family keeps records so I didn't put that down.
[] Major strength/weakness: ???
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: I showed interest early on.
[/ul]Other Factors: they lost my why reed essay. my second copy got there like on the 3rd of this month.

ACCEPTED

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 1210
[] SAT IIs: Took Writing and Literature, can't remember my scores anymore.
[] GPA: 3.3 (unweighted)
[] Rank: Don't know.
[li] Other stats:
[/li]

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Talked about the effect living in different countries had on me.
[] Teacher Recs: 3 (IBHL Economics, IBHL Geography, IBSL Math Studies teachers). Saw the one my Econ teacher wrote and it was amazing.
[] Counselor Rec: Didn't get to read it. I have a good relationship with him though so I think that it was a pretty good rec.
[] Hook (if any): International/TCK? Trilingual? Don't know if I have any.

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Philippines
[] School Type: International school
[] Ethnicity: Asian (Filipino)
[] Major strength/weakness: Strengths: Good Common App and Why Reed essay. I submitted my art portfolio even though I don't plan on majoring in the Arts. A plus that I'm a full IB Diploma candidate. Weaknesses: SATs weren't as high most applicants, low Gr. 9 grades (I fixed that though and did better in my following HS years).
[li] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Showed a lot of interest in Reed. Never got a chance to be interviewed but I was able to meet with my rep and talk to him during a college fair. I'll also tell myself my art portfolio had something to do with it :-p.
[/li]

[/ul]Other Factors:
Lots and lots of EC's and several leadership roles. Very committed to community service. Accumulated 250+ hours of community service in just 2 years (excludes summer and winter activities).

Congrats to all of you!

Did they only send emails to accepted? I didnt get anything =(

A lot of accepted applicants received emails although I'm not too sure if they've sent out ALL the e-mails. Call admissions to find out.

i didn't get it either! :(

i live in socal and turned in my mid-year report late, and i got an email saying it would maybe take a little longer to make my decision....

but still :(

i want an email! and i'm too scared to call...

admits, what does ur status say?

http://admission.reed.edu/status.taf

mine still says

Your admission application is now complete. Decision letters will be mailed in late March.

I think they might just be too acceptees. I got waitlisted and I never got an email (I wrote to my admissions counselor at Reed and she let me know via email).

Bummed about getting waitlisted, but life goes on.
