Congrats Afaforce, fellow ED Deferree! I look forward to seeing you next year at dear old Penn.

I'm seriously still intoxicated from getting in!

i forget: what'll be your major next year?

I got accepted! I'm so happy.

Stats: 1050 SAT. 3.5 gpa. 3/450 class rank.

I'm a black male from Washington, DC. The school I attend is public.

Hey this is my first post here in CC. Anyways, I got the news yesterday: ACCEPTED!!!! I was originally deferred ED but got into Wharton in the regular decision pool. My stats: SAT: 1520 (780 V, 740 M) SATII: Writing (770), US History (710), Math IC (670). Hook, if any: Leadership (Student Body President), work experience (Sales support department in a reputable mortgage company for the past two summers), demonstrated interest (I applied ED, and after my deferral, sent a letter to Penn telling them how much I love them), oh and lots of luck...

Anyways, I am ecstatic! I love Penn so much! Hell yea class of 2009!

Decision: Accepted (College of Arts and Sciences)

Stats:
*SAT: 1090 (510 M/ 580 V)
*SAT IIs: 540/410/560
*GPA: 4.0
*Rank: 4/400

Subjective
Essays: Sincere and from the heart. How much I loved the school and couldn't imagine spending the next four years of my life anywhere else.

Teacher RCs: Teachers have been my best friends since Pre-school. I can relate to them more sometimes since my mom is a teacher and I respect them for what they put up with at my school.
Counselor RC: I put a lot of myself into my school to help its' situation, so the almost everyone was pushing for me, including my counselor.

Hook(if any):
-Sent my album that I produced at home(17 songs)
-Young Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania: Allows exceptional high school students to take penn classes with regularly matriculated undergraduates. Tuition is free for public school students.
( I got a B in Cultural Anthropology; Currently taking Sociology)
-Interviewed for article on the frontpage of the Philadelphia Tribune
-Philadelphia 76ers Hometown Hero: In the Spirit of Alex Scott Award
-ARAMARK Career Training Internship at the University of Pennsylvania
-Ran 12 laps in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life 2004 at the University of Pennsylvania
-Operation Understanding: Philadelphia program dedicated to strengthening the relationships between African-Americans and Jewish Americans. I am member of the 2004 class. The 2003 class had 4 people go to Penn. This year, so far anyway, 2 acceptances at Cornell(including myself), 1 at Yale, 2 at Penn (including myself). I also wrote a 17 page paper on African-American/Jewish Relations for my Cultural Anthropology term paper.

Location/Person"
*State or Country: Philadelphia, PA
*School Type: Public (inner-city)
*Ethnicity: African-American
*Gender: Male
*Major Strength/Weakness: shaky sense of confidence, especially a year ago, at this site, when I almost gave up the 2 dreams I have achieved because my SAT scores were to low.
*Why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: My dad always says good things happen to good people, so I did the very best I possibly could to meet that standard. Also, I truly do love Penn. The first time I was on campus, I fell in love with the school without knowing a thing about it. From then on, my main goal was to be there as much as I could.

Decision: Accepted (Wharton)

Stats:
SAT: 1520 (800m, 720v)
SAT II: 2130 (700iic, 710us, 720wr)
ACT: 30 (28w, 33r, 35m, 24s)
GPA: 4.0 uw, 4.5w
Rank: 1 out of 109

Subjective:
Essays: both just ok, my short answers were cool though...
Counselor Rec: Good
Teacher Rec: Just decent.
The Hook: none

Location/Person:
Location: San Diego California
School Type: Private
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
*Major Strength: SAT 1, class rank, ECs off the chart (football, soccer, track, business related job, tutoring 3yrs, debate, 1000+ hours of various volunteer work, and more)
*Major Weakness: Sat II and ACT scores, a very weak high school, only 2 APs w/ scores that I am thoroughly ashamed of, only 2yrs of foreign language, only 1 year of calc.
*Why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered:
I attend a small school without a lot of opportunity. So despite a rather weak courseload, my decent test scores, a good rank, and outstanding ECs got me in. ECs>SAT>Academics.

Did you M&T/Fisher acceptance appear prominantly in your on-line Penn acceptance page and in your paper package? I applied to M&T, got into engineering, but got no direct feedback on the M&T part. Thanks.
