Last year, my brother received his U of C admit box around this time of the year. Since I am sure many of you CCers will receive fat packets, I am starting a thread (a little early) to share the decisions.

O, and it would be great it you guys could keep bumping it everyday, so that this thread is alive by the time everyone gets his decision.
Thanks :)

Also, it's not "deferred" anymore (the last question before "other factors") as the EA's have their decisions. It's waitlisted. (I would know -- I got it last year.)

Decision: Waitlist

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT/ACT: 1380 (620 M / 760 V) / 32 (34 E / 36 R / 28 M / 31 S)
[] SAT IIs: Not applicable, but: 740 Writing, 680 Lit, 590 IIC (Um... yeah, can you tell I'm no good at math yet?)
[] GPA: 3.8ish W / 3.65ish UW
[] Rank: Top 10% (34/364)
[] Other stats: AP scores 3 for Lang/Comp, 3 for US History.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Not very remarkable.
[] Teacher Recs: Pretty good to great.
[] Counselor Rec: Generic. mutter
[] Hook (if any): None, really, though very extensively involved in high school paper (editor for two years) and drama department (officer, top award in department, lots and lots of tech experience, etc.)
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Southern California
[] School Type: Public (60% to uni, 70% of those to CC, 5% to military)
[] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[] Gender: Female
[] major strength/weakness: Very artsy -- no portfolio, but lots of achievements in writing and theater
[li] why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Waitlisted. Not very remarkable, and also didn't put my time in my app (probably interpreted as a lack of interest). I was in the middle of the bad fires in Southern California and spent about a month (Oct 25-Nov 10) in a hotel waiting for my house to burn down (which it didn't, though it was close), and then the rest of the year (really, through December and into January) straightening everything up in the house, with the family, and in the community.[/li][/ul]Other Factors: None. I'm applying to transfer from my current college (UCSC) this year.

Last year, yes, and I can't remember for the life of me when I got the decision as I was already distracted and pretty much forgot about it because I was so disheartened by the waitlist. ;)

I'm from Canada, and I got my EA deferral notice by email (before I received the hard copy in the mail)...so I assume the same will happen for RD decisions.

And several people have said they will be mailed out tomorrow or Friday.

are you serious??? if i get waitlisted or rejected im going to soooooo regret telling a friends mom who saw me wearing a uchicago shirt and offered to put in a good word with her cousin, one of the top adcoms at chicago(im pretty sure she might have even said the words dean of admissions...), "no, thats okay" AAAAHHHHHHH. i thought, "hey, if i get in i want to know that it was because i deserved it." but now that i think about it, its not gonna matter if i dont get in, now will it?

"I visited on Monday and they were preparing acceptance/rejection letters, so assumably it's going by snail mail."

if i saw a huge bucket of acceptance letters id be seriously tempted to just dive in and grab as many as i could and run out the door. so much for my integrity.

Jimmyeatworld is not a senior, but a lowly Junior. If s/he were a senior there would be serious resraint issues from extreme college related stress.

hah kosuke...i'd help. together we'd get most of them, you think? bad part: if we didnt find ours. then we'd be tortured with..did i not pick up mine?! and you're just as uncertain, but with no integrity. hm.
