apu - I don’t get it; in another post you said you were a Junior? You also came across arrogant when you posted your high scores and said you did without prep. Maybe that arrogance came across in your essay. I don’t know and I’m not trying to be mean; just a thought.

You may well be right, MasterPuppet, considering the volume of applications Michigan has apparently received. I’ve been reading the threads here with interest and I hope people post when they get a decision. I’m crossing my fingers for everyone here as well as my son.

Jesse:

Even though UM doesn’t ask for them, my in-state, deferred son sent his SAT II scores and sent an e-mail to his admission counselor letting her know that he sent them and that he’s very interested in attending UM. It was the only time he’s gotten back a personal message from UM as the counselor sent back an e-mail thanking him for sending in the scores and that she will note his continued interest in UM.

With so many applications I don’t think it’s a bad idea to get yourself in front of the admission staff in any legitimate way. Sending good scores highlighting academic aptitude is certainly legitimate. I doubt any admissions staffer would consider it a negative.

Thank you Huxley. That was my thought as well. It certainly couldn’t hurt and it might be helpful.

We are in-state as well. He already e-mailed his regional counselor expressing his continued interest in Michigan and got a very nice reply, but he didn’t mention sending his SAT Subject Test scores. I think I might ask him to send a follow-up e-mail mentioning the scores and that they’re on their way.

I just want to know already

Well, we got good news at our house today! My son received an e-mail and he is accepted into the College of Engineering! He’s very excited as it was his first choice and he was deferred Regular Decision so they are still sending out acceptances.

Jesse5810, do you mean he was deferred Early Decision?

did he send in his mid-year report? If yes, when?

He was actually deferred Regular Decision. He e-mailed his regional counselor last week Friday expressing his continued interest and he got an e-mail today saying he was accepted.

wow thats great! where are you from because thats a nice counselor.

Wow! Congratulations to you and your son! I was also deferred RD and it’s crazy that he heard back so soon. Hope I have such luck. XD could you post his stats, just out of curiosity?

I’m surprised as well! I thought we’d be stressing out for weeks yet. His counselor was pretty amazing, she sent a very nice reply to his e-mail telling him his application was strong and that they would review his application this week but I wasn’t expecting we’d hear today already. Very nice that they didn’t make him wait!

His stats are:

ACT: 32
GPA: 4.21 Weighted 3.89 Unweighted
Class Rank: 3rd out of 360
SAT Subject tests: Math 2 770, Physics 700
EC’s are varied, camp counselor, marching band, math tutor, Lego Robotics coach, a bunch more stuff that I’m not going to type out.

He is dually enrolled so he also sent his college grades as well.

Luna, we’re in Michigan. And I will be checking this thread regularly, I hope to hear that everyone here gets in soon!

wow congrats! when I emailed my counselor additional information i got an auto-response email!!

Hahah, he has great stats. Since you’ve gotten a response, do you think that this means that they are already re-reviewing deferred applications? From what I recall of an earlier post, you are in-state, though, right?

Yes, we are in-state. As far as re-reviewing deferred applications, I honestly don’t know. It would seem they are based on his admittance. Hopefully this means more decisions will be coming soon.

Sorry, I hadn’t refreshed in a little while. I hope some of us can be put out of our miseries.

I hope so too, very much. The waiting is awful. We are very fortunate not to have had to wait very long and I hope you hear soon as well.

do you think it’s too late to send an email to the admissions counselor?

No, I’d go for it. :)
