but rjkofnovi is correct in that if the Michigan admissions officer does not sense respect for Michigan in your application, your chances diminish regardless of stats.

has anyone deferred from EA received a decision after being deferred with this email?

Thank you for your freshman application to the University of Michigan. After an initial individualized and comprehensive review of your application, we have determined that we will need additional information in order to make a final decision. We will not re-evaluate your application file until after our regular decision deadline of February 1, 2012. We need this additional information and time to ensure that we give your application the best possible review. We will notify you of a final decision on your application by mid-April.

i didn’t receive that email, but i also have not heard back yet :/

So I was deferred early action with the letter that requests first semester grades. My counselor sent them in, is there anything else that needs to be done on the common app as a deferred applicant? Heeeelp!(:

I got the first letter–the one about how my application was still being looked at. First semester I got all A’s and A- (about 3.8 unweighted, 3.9 weighted) and within a week and a half I had my acceptance letter.
My overall GPA was about 3.8, ACT:31. In state, from a private college prep. I took two AP’s, one junior, one senior. I didnt do that much community service but I had a good essay.
However, I am doing poorly in AP Bio right now due to one test (and the test that I’ll prob fail tomorrow). Instead of studying, I’ve been procrastinating and looking up how badly I’d have to do to get my acceptance revoked x.x
Anyway, good luck to you all, I have to go actually study.

For the people that mentioned receiving an acceptance shortly after submitting first semester grades, how did you go about doing that? Did you submit the Mid-Year Report or something else?

deekshaaaa, my son just submitted his first semester grades along with his college transcript of the courses he’s taking as a dually enrolled student. He also sent an e-mail to his admissions counselor expressing his continued interest in attending.

deekshaaaa, my counselor sent in my grades. She told us to email the school if we were still interested, but I didnt. I was going to update my resume because I added a lot after I applied but I got accepted before I could.
