OFFICIAL Deferred Class of 2017

this is really annoying. I know people who applied in September and still don’t know. and they specifically said they would release a wave of decisions in mid February…

is it possible for a Saturday release?

Agreed, so annoying. Especially since it has been half a year and all I’ve heard is you’re deferred. Beginning of September to end of February is half a year. Ridiculous.

I’m thinking they meant they would start notifying the RD applicants in mid-February. At this point I’m guessing the deferred students will mostly have to wait until EA and RD kids start turning down their offers of admission, so then they know how much space they have to fill with the deferred pool.

^ I don’t think that’s exactly true. The main reason students are deferred is to compare them to the complete applicant pool after the RD applications come in. What you’re explaining sounds more like what would happen if one was wait-listed.

A friend of mine just checked and got accepted to LSA!

^ did anyone else get accepted besides lionsandtigers’ friend?!

Is there a way to know if michigan received your senior grades? When I click “view credentials” i notice that the date my HS transcript was received updated to a date after I sent my senior grades. I sent my entire HS transcript much earlier. Do you think this means they have been received?

Long time reader, first time poster; @ lionsandtigers was your friend who got accepted to LSA an Early Action applicant or a transfer student? I was deferred too and have been dying to hear back from UMich just like everyone else. I feel like from the amount of time and effort you all have put into researching and posting on here, you all deserve to get in! Best of luck and I hope everyone gets positive results when they are finally notified!

nothing yet

Nothing here. @lionsandtigers, I guess I have the same questions as stern0inferno. :(

Is anyone else hoping in the back of their mind that there was just an overwhelming applicant pool and they just deferred a whole bunch of people who’s applications they couldn’t review?

^ yes!!! i think that’s probably true though.

Aghhh when are they going to release them :(

Good Day to you, Gentlemen and Ladies

Probability of them being released by Friday?

I say a 10%

Hello all. I know im kind of late with saying this but i got the “medium letter” with a 26 ACT and 3.5 gpa. I thought I would get denied admission for sure, so i’m pretty happy i got deferred. Mine went like this:

We have carefully considered your application to the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts for Fall 2013. Given our surging application volume and very strong credentials of our applicants, admission to the University is becoming increasingly competitive. As a result, your application has been deferred for a final decision until a later date.

Your application will be re-evaluated, and a final decision will be made based on how your credentials and academic achievements contribute to the composition and quality of this year’s freshman applicant pool. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early-April, 2013.

Please refer to the website [Information for Deferred Students | University of Michigan Office of Admissions](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/deferred) for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next. Strong fall semester or second trimester grades may enhance your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward your fall semester or second trimester grades when they become available and be sure your U-M ID (excluded for privacy) is on the material. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require.

We hope your interest in Michigan continues, and you have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful senior year.

Sincerely,

Theodore L. Spencer
Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director

So my question is (look at previous post please), do i absolutely HAVE to send in my 1st semester grades of senior year?
They weren’t stellar… (1A+ 2A- 2B 1B- ) where my entire JUNIOR YEAR i only had one B+(in 1st semester) the entire year and the rest were ALL A’s. SO my point is i’m thinking that not sending in my first semester of senior year will benefit me because they are just average at best…, and then the last grades they will be looking at are my Amazing Junior year grades! Will doing this hurt me? Help me? Please respond. Thanks!

I received the same letter as you!! ^^^

are you two in state or out of state?

Sounds like a few have already started trickling in, that’s now three reported acceptances among friends/individuals around these parts.
