Can you just call FedEx and ask if there is a package coming to a location, no tracking number? Interesting.

Yes, actually a year or so ago applicants to one LAC (I think-- I forget which school) figured this trick out-- that their acceptances were coming via fedex, and many called fedex. Apparently, if you call FedEx and tell them your address or the senders address and the date (or approximate?) it was shipped and they should be able to track it for you. However, that spoils all the fun!! Besides, what if Tulane uses UPS this year???

you could just call both fedex and ups

^^^ Or just wait. Should hear any day…

Also, we don’t know for sure they have sent them out yet

I just got a letter that said i didnt get it either. Ill post my stats since you asked demonsword55 to post his:

ACT: 34
GPA:4.0 UW (my school doesnt do weighted)
Class Rank: 1/33
School doesnt offer APs
Average ECs
I thought i had a good project

And I was offered the 24K/honors college as well

I also did not receive the scholarship. It’s tough - I thought I had as good a shot as anybody. Life goes on, they remind you of your scholarships already offered and honors college and whatever. I would still love to go to Tulane, the pricing will make it tough but we’ll see what we can do.

ACT: 35
GPA: 4.2 W 4.0 UW
Top 10% Class Rank
Solid EC’s with sports and community service and whatever

Good luck to those of you who haven’t heard yet. The competition is stiff!

insert various expletives here i got it.
stats:
act: 35
rank: towards the bottom of top 20%? i thought that would sink me.

project: i thought it could be interpreted as sacrilegious as all hell, but an english teacher said it was intelligent and funny. it was definitely risky
i’ll post it later… maybe with essay. it’s not like anyone can rip it off; i’d think it’s pretty original

Did you receive it by FedEx or regular mail?

Yes, I too am curious to see whether it was shipped by Fedex or regular mail.

hahaha! i just got a letter telling me they considered me but unfortunately couldn’t offer me the scholarship…

but i never even applied for it!

Well, just from thisdude’s acceptance and his stats compared to LavaCreature’s, we can say that the project does matter. (I know I’ve read on here that the project doesn’t matter.)

And since he’s from Louisiana, everyone else’s should be coming soon… I can’t wait to find out… nail biting

I dont think posters are saying the project doesnt matter-- it does, as it gives the applicant an opportunity to show their clever, creative side. They do enjoy evaluating the projects, and talking aout soem of the clever things applicants have done. It just also gives the school an opportunity to review their top candidates. Based on what stats have been posted here, this years DHS applicants have definitely been an accomplished group!

mine was fedex’d next or same day
it came with a pleather padfolio with tulane university embossed
my letter said that 70 were offered out of approximately 1,000 applicants

fwiw, i included an updated resume

I haven’t received a package or a letter, but I did call FedEx to see if any packages were heading my way. I received a no, and thus I suspect I did not receive the DHS. To keep the stats train rolling though, here are my stats.

SAT Superscore (2280) 800 M 750 R 730 W

ACT 33, I’ve gotten 36s on all sections except English, it seems I can’t piece them together though

Rank: 4th out of 363 One of the best schools in SC (although that’s not saying a lot)

ECs: Founded Latin Club, Treasurer of NHS and Chess Team, Varsity soccer player

No hooks whatsoever

Project: Intriguing, but horrendous at the same time. I used invisible ink to write mankind in the box, and my whole essay was about man striving to find the truth and beauty of mankind. Then one could take the pen (mankind’s light) and uncover mankind. Pretty cliche, but I tried to work it into Tulane’s empathy and service. Didn’t work though.

i checked the envelope, and it’s next day air.
they probably will send the “we’re sorry, but” letters through regular USPS mail

thisdude,
Can you recheck your letter? Last year there were 10,000 applicants. It surprising that there would only be 1000 this year.

I received no form letter yesterday

Ok the big package just arrived in Cleveland, OH. UPS Next Day Airsaver, which means it could come anytime during the day. My D’s stats: 1/160, 35 ACT, 12 APs all 4 and 5. Also has a sibling at Tulane.

Yeah, it says 1000.

Here’s what it says:

“Congratulations! You have been selected as one of the recipients of our most prestigious merit scholarship. Out of a field of over 1000 applicants of unprecedented strength and quality, the committee was restricted to awarding Deans’ Honor Scholarships to only the top 75 members of the incoming class.”

It then goes on to explain why I was specifically selected, including my “demonstrated leadership and intellectual curiosity.”
It’s actually personalized, which I didn’t really expect. It mentions my project, which basically made me laugh out loud.
