I’ve also received nothing. However, I live in Washington, which is approximately 2,000 miles from New Orleans.

Yesterday we received an invitation to a local reception for admitted students. Nothing yet for DHS, and even the formal admission letter is not received yet! I guess the sales staff are the most diligent at Tulane.

So sorry that this is a bit off topic:
I got the 24k/honors but didn’t get the DHS. I really want to know if I’m still able to keep Tulane at the top of my college shortlist (only possible with more aid money); anyone know when financial aid letters/packages/offers are sent out to admitted students?
Thanks!

Okay so I called Tulane today, and they told me that they sent out DHS notifications on Friday, February 20th. Also, my admission counselor at Tulane sent me a birthday card by USPS (my birthday was friday!) that is postmarked for that same friday, which I received today, so I’m hoping that’s a good sign that I haven’t gotten a declination letter yet (that most of the kids in my city have gotten already.)

Also, is it a requirement to get the 24k/honors college invite to be considered for the DHS?

I called Tulane yesterday also, and I got the same information. They also said that if I don’t hear by the end of Feb, call back and they will just tell me my status

Unless they did something differently, the DHS awards were send out by UPS (not fedex, my bad, sorry). The envelope that it was in last year (those plastic mailer envelopes) sais “extremely ungent” on it, or something like that. It was probably equivalent to an overnight or priority delivery, asn they probably don’t want the DHS awards dribbling in to different parts of the country over several different days, if they can help it. Some posters suggested that theirs might have been delayed due to their local weather, which is understandible, but, while I dont want to sound like Debbie Downer (of SNL fame) I am suspecting that if the UPS package hasnt landed on your doorstep by now, almost a week after they were sent, unless t fell behind a bush or a dog ate it or something… it probably isnt or wont be there.

I just asked my admissions counselor and she told me. No need to wait until the end of the month to find out.

I second tigerlily’s question: Does anyone know when they mail out need-based aid decisions? I’ll need some serious aid if I want to attend…

Last year we got an email with a link to check our financial aid packge close to April first, but I don’t remember the exact date. A hard copy followed a few days later. I remember that Tulane was the last school we received a financial aid package from.

OK, I think I have it figured out (and it AIN’T good). S has received NOTHING yet - no package and no letter. Let’s assume that they meant to send everything out on Friday, but part of it got “stuck” in campus mail. They were on “Mardi Gras break” M and T. The rest of the notices would then go out on W, right? Therefore, if it was a package, it should have arrived today. A letter, on the other hand, takes about 3 days to get to our state, KY. Therefore, our bad news should be arriving on Sat. Whaddya think of that logic? My only hope is that, I did order an expensive camera a few years back. When it didn’t arrive, I started calling around and was told that it had been delivered 5 days before. I took a walk and found it on the porch of a vacant house down the street. (However, I have already walked the dog several times and checked all the vacant houses - yes, I’m obsessive!) Congrats to all you lucky and talented recipients, and “great job” to those of you who got the letter instead. You tried and gave it your best, and that’s what counts! Don’t stop trying.

My dad called Tulane today, and they told me that since I haven’t heard anything yet, I most likely didn’t receive the scholarship They said that the only reason that I haven’t received it yet would be that it got delayed in the USPS, because all of the UPS packages already arrived.

Allykat - I am sorry for your news, I know you were really hoping for it. I wish you the best of luck wherever you end up, Tulane or otherwise.

S’s Admissions counselor just called. S did not get the DHS. However, I did find out why some people (us included) never received their reject letter. She said that if you also applied for the Community Service scholarship, your file is currently with the reviewers for that scholarship, so they will not be able to send your letter until they are done with it.

Accepted, got the 24k thing too, Presidential?
New Orleans resident…(It would’ve been cheaper/faster for me to walk to Tulane and get it instead of UPS since my school is a 5 minute walk from Tulane.)

Congratulations to the other recipients!

IMAGINATION01. Do not dis Mardi Gras Break. It is a week off from school and I thoroughly enjoyed it. :D

haha, just kidding. You should all come down to New Orleans during Mardi Gras, greatest place to be in february.

yangalater - Congrats, and I agree with you about the Mardi Gras break.

You do realize, I hope, that the DHS replaces the Presidential. I am sure you do, but the way you phrased it, I just wanted to make sure you knew. I suspect that everyone that got the DHS was first offered the Presidential. Was probably useless to apply for the DHS if you weren’t.

Yangalater, I was not dissing Mardi Gras break! If S gets to go to Tulane, we will be down to visit him then for sure! Just trying to come up with reasons why notification might have been delayed.

Oh, and CONGRATS!!!

I called Tulane today since I STILL haven’t received and acceptance or rejection letter. They informed me that they just finished picking the finalists today and they sent out the final letters this afternoon. Therefore, I should be hearing one way or another in the next few days.

Allykat - Interesting, puts a new twist on things. Did you also apply for the Community scholarship? I think it said somewhere else on here that they were holding back with people they were considering for the Community as well as the DHS, and that was why some people had not heard yet.
