Yes, I did apply for the community service scholarship. I know of many other people that applied for both and heard already, so I wasn’t sure if my letter just got lost in the mail. Tulane said that they just sent out my response Monday, so at least I know my mailman didn’t give it to the wrong house. They also said that they sent out a whole batch of responses Monday, so if anyone else hasn’t heard, there is still hope! Btw, they did say they completed the judging, so if you still don’t hear by Friday, I would recommend calling Tulane and they will probably tell you their decision.

From everything I heard, I definitely think that the first batch of mail was to people that applied DHS only AND people they knew were not going to get either (i.e. did not even make the first cut, so to speak), and this batch is the rest. Strongly rooting for you Allykat!!

still haven’t received anything…

Bmurphy - At this point a phone call is in order.

Out of curiosity, do DHS recipients still receive personal phone calls from the Dean congratulating them on earning the scholarship?

^^^ I don’t recall my s saying he got a phonecall last year…

we received no call this year.

I wish they still did that! It was thrilling to get that phone call way back when I was hearing from colleges. Congratulations to all the recipients, and I hope you choose Tulane. It really is a great school, and New Orleans is one-of-a-kind.

I never received a yes or no. Every time I call Tulane, they tell me to try back in a couple weeks. Btw, has anyone heard about the community service scholarship yet? It’s starting to seem like this will be the only way I will be able to afford Tulane. I received my financial aid email today, and I still need to come up with $11k/yr, money I don’t have.

Is there anyone out there in who has never received a letter, one way or the other, on either the DHS or the Comm Serv scholarships? I called about a week after the DHS notifications went out and was told that “all those sent out were received” so our son did not get one. They also said that he did not get a letter because his materials were with the Comm Serv scholarship committee. Now I hear that the Comm Serv notifications probably went out, and still we have never gotten a yes or no from anyone! Anyone else in this situation? It is very frustrating! Makes you wonder if they even had his applications at all.
