Nah. Unit triples are pretty crowded, if you ask me.

A lot more people go for clark kerr doubles than unit triples.

A lot more people go for clark kerr doubles than unit triples.

hows the privacy in dorms regarding bathroom/showers?

I think most people would opt for the Clark Kerr double over the unit 1 or 2 triple, but certainly these have their advantages, and if you aren't one of these people, then who cares what most people would do?

Privacy regarding bathroom/showers? Well, the sinks are all connected, but the showers have doors and curtains inside. The stalls have fairly tall walls. I like that last sentence. You can easily come see yourself!

Drab Let Me Live With You Forever!

Hmmm. We'll see.

what do you think of Clark Kerr's double suites?

thanks.

effing BIG.

When I went into one of Clark Kerr's bathrooms, I realized that the stall doors don't go all the way to the ground.

Though I'm not sure if this is the case for all bathrooms.

Probably not the case for all of them.

CKC double suites are big and hard to get. It comes with all the perks and downsides of Clark Kerr. Yay.

Unit 3 gets a bad rap for some reason, and in my opinion it's actually better than the other Units. Location is great and everything, but most importantly the people there seem to generally be more social. The environment is just conducive to that. It's a cool place.

is bowles the dorm with the green basketball court?

Erm, you mean the Maxwell Field? If so, that's not a basketball court; it's used for lacrosse/field hockey and some intramural sports.

Either that, or there's actually a green basketball court inside Bowles..

if you take the video tour on the CAL housing website of bowles you can see a green basketball court in the foreground? but im not sure if thats inside bowles or outside bowles?

Man it seems that a lot of people are bagging on Unit 3...And Unit 3 was my first choice too! I have a friend who lived in Unit 3 and she said she loved it...and it was a great location.

Are the bathrooms and sanitation conditions REALLY as bad as some of you put it? Like is it drastically different from units 1/2? There's no music/fitness/computer rooms in Unit 3?? Oh myyy..

There's a comuter room in unit three, not sure about music or fitness. It's closest to the main gym for students. I don't think it's that different than the high-rises in units 1 and 2, but I don't have too much experience. Don't worry so much.

can freshmen apply for a double suite in Units 1 & 2? the brochure of CAL housing shows a picture of a double suite (DS) but the comparitive chart on CAL website http://www.housing.berkeley.edu/livingatcal/comparehalls.html

does NOT list DS under "room occupancy" for unit 1 and 2

Yeah, from the literature I've read it seems that the double suites won't be open to freshmen, but I'm not positive about it.

i logged into my housing application to check what options are available.
i can apply for a double or triple mini suite in UNits 1 and 2. how are these mini suites and would you reccomend this over a triple?
i was thinking of my 5 preferences:
1. unit 2- double
2. unit 1 - double
3. unit 2- double mini suite
4 unit 1- double mini suite
5 unit 2 - triple mini suite

also can we request roomates by major, or is that already done?

As I said before.. I wouldn't recommend the suites to freshmen since the way the suites are structured makes it generally less social than the traditional hallway dorms. And since continuing students are most likely choosing to live in suites, you would become friends older students rather than students in your class year. Triple isn't too bad, did you go to Cal Day and compare?

unlimitedx is certainly right, there are differences between the suites and the high rises.

The differences between the suites and triples is cost, location, and other stuff.

Roommates are matched up by about five questions or so.
