@Nosike

Nevermind then haha. Sorry about the rejection man :(

I think rejection might be preferable to Deferral, to be quite honest.
They defer ~700 kids and only 70 of them will get in come Spring. That’s not exactly the best statistic, given that around 500 out of 2200 got in for ED - a much better stack of odds.
And this quote from Guttentag isn’t exactly the epitome of encouragement

“The hard truth is that if you applied early decision and were deferred, for most of you, unfortunately, the process is essentially over. Take a look at the defer letter — does it say what the admit percentage is for defers? If it does, take that number seriously. Keep that list of other colleges you’ve applied to close to your heart, because the odds say you’re going to be choosing from among one of them.”

I was academically qualified and yes, I had Bs, but I do go to a competitive boarding school where grades aren’t inflated. I also think my personality shone through in my application. I’m VERY upset that I didn’t get in, but obviously with a school like Duke I knew deferral was a very probable outcome for me in the early round. I made sure that the interviewer left knowing that I was independent, ambitious, and competent. My stats weren’t anything extraordinary. My GPA and standardized test scores seemed mostly on par with the typical Duke applicant. The only thing i felt that really set me apart was my essay.
