No, no sarcasm was intended.

If you have strong credentials, (i.e. EC's/essays, etc.) then I think you should have a good shot of getting in.

SAT's are overrated.

i agree megan, they seriously are - and grades too.

i have to keep telling my friend from junior year not to worry about them because she has strong EC's. i don't think many people believe that it's true, but it IS. grades and SATs are only numbers, but everything else is tangible accomplishment.

yeah man.

BUT, i think grades (i.e. rank) > SAT's. i think having good grades is a prereq, but the 4.0 UW doesn't always get kids in.

it's the subjective stuff that counts for a lot more.

i got into pratt 1350SAT 4.0uw gpa... mmm which is better? lol

i dont think grades matter nearly as much as people on here make them out to be... the classes taken are WAY more important

how much of a role do you think rank plays in admissions? Do they seek out top ranked kids (1-5) or is it just a reflection of the applicant?

Congrats Phil on getting in, too bad I won't be seeing you next August. I was deferred. I still have hope for RD, but what can I do to help myself?

Good luck to all! hope to see everybody at duke next year!

I found it helpful to have my GC call Duke. She talked to the rep who looked at my app. He said it was solid... good grades, essays, ECs, etc. The problem was all of the tough competition. He had told the committee to accept me. I guess they had the same comments. Still, deferred. I'm sending in a bunch of stuff including two more recs, a recording, and an audition sheet.
