Official Duke University Transfer Thread Fall 2010

my 2 year gpa at a top 30 got me wait listed. sorry I can’t help much more than to tell you my own situation, you can take it however you want.

@bak: Realistically speaking, it will still be very hard for you to get in. Duke only took 50 transfer students out of a pool of 700 this year (about 8% acceptance rate, making it harder to get in as a transfer than as a high school senior). Although an upward trend in grades will help, it will still be a reach for you to get in. But, hey, it doesn’t hurt to try. Getting better grades will help you in the long run, whether you get in or not. I also recommend you make it very clear why you want to transfer in your Common App and “Why Duke?” essays and obtain strong letters of recommendation from professors that know you well.

I think Slik Nik gives some excellent advice.

But, by all means, there’s no harm (really) in at least giving it a shot.

I got into Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering off the waitlist!

But I can’t decide between Duke and CMU… =/

@fantasyspirit91, were you notified by email or regular mail? congrats, by the way!

Thank you!
They called my house phone lol
