Official EA Countdown Thread!

Don't talk like that! Bad karma! Knock on wood! I'm freakin' out!

I've actually been really superstitious lately- anything helps! And it's also not good for your self esteem to think like that. What are your stats?

Tonyap23 i hear that SNHS (i saw in another thread that you are applying there) is not as competetive, just so ya know. you prob have a really good chance of getting in, esp. talking to admissions ppl and stuff. but im thinking the same way as you so im not disappointed when i get deferred.

dude my stats are nothing special, i mean SNHS takes 40% of male applicants...im just banking on my interactions with the admission officer when i got interviewed by him and my teacher is pushing for me

1350 sat, 3.7 gpa, 5 ap's now, 95 average senior year, eagle scout, wrestling, lacrosse, first aid squid, i mean i have a whole chart full of info but

i dunno man. i'd say you definitely have a really good shot. I have a friend at SNHS right now. She's pre-med...likes it a lot, but is really stressed out. and your stats are similar to hers, and the fact that you are a guy helps im sure.

why is it stressful, hard?

yeah shes in bio. and chem. right now. a lot of lab she says. are you going pre-med?

what is ur AIM sn?

it's mmcc4123.

almost 16 days!

Jangel, did you hear? Mike thinks that it's possible that we might get our decisions by the 13th or even by the 12th, so that makes it only 13-14 days!

wow my history teacher gave me the biggest ball buster by saying he will know this wed

So would all the teachers who wrote a student a reccomendation know this wednesday? Or is yours a special case? Because I think that if my teacher knew, she would tell me...

come on man, i said, my teacher is friends with the assistant director of admissions, and if all teachers knew, hell would break loose with law suits against confidentiallity

Oops! Sorry- I didn't fully read the preceeding posts.

that's funny, because we talk about the east coast like it's a foreign country.

haha.

I sure hope we get our letters in the mail just one random day...the build up is simply too insane.

I agree, deferral and rejection can and should be used interchangably...

I was reading that other spread...25% of applicants accepted EA...so that means that out of 4 people who thought they had a chance, only 1 gets in. Ouch.

I guess it's time for a reality check! I need some bubbly water and a sleeping pill. Hehe.

That's an extremely evil teacher. But maybe he'll tell you early...or you can catch on early.

yeah his facial features somewhat resemble Hitler's...he also grew up in Germany...lol

yeah im gonna need more than a sleeping pilll...

Hey guys, I'm visiting from the Yale board and others, and thought that you might have an answer to my question.

I love georgetown and plan on applying, but looking at admissions rates, it seems like it may be good to have a backup in the DC area. As such, an obvious choice is George Washington University. What is your opinion of GW as an easier school to get in to, and do they give out much financial aid based on need or merit?

just look at their admission stats, its no where near as difficult as gtown

and your garunteed to pay 45,000 a year without going up or down for 5 years....u just have to fill out the fafsa form to find out about financial aid.

Georgetown has Tuition (minus) Your family's contribution, and then they can pay the rest if need be, but again thats for the government to figure out

George Washington does have a higher acceptance rate, but it is an amazing university. Don't get me wrong, I love Georgetown, but GW is very diverse and has tons and tons of great resources. The location is excellent, too, being smack dab in the center of a very busy little area. It's way too big for me, though. And Georgetown has better academics.

If I just recently got some new awards, is it worth email GT and telling them about it? Or is it probably too late for EA?
