Official EA Countdown

33 days and counting...

Go team EA!

wooooo hooooo!

ok so december 15th.. are we talking afternoon or midnight or what? i wanna know ASAP! :)

somebody said something about the evening, at least, the after school hours

I'm sure I'll be checking constantly, starting in the early hours of the 15th. However, I expect them to be up in the late afternoon/early evening.

Are you guys preparing yourselves to disengage psychologically when the meltdown comes? If this year is like '03, Hillhouse Avenue will be dishing out a lot of misery.

Undoubtedly, it will be a very emotional day. I'm not sure how I'll deal with the news.

I've already disengaged myself. I'm expecting a deferral... so that's completely ok by me.

Countdowns are bad, because u get so excited and then you usually get disappointed.

I have pretty much put Yale on the back burner. I am just trying to send out quality applications to my other schools and get excited about going to one of them. At this point, I don't expect anything good from Yale.

Part of me is expecting a deferral. I'd love to not be excited or not care, but unfortunately I don't know how to reverse it and really do care as much as I'd like to say I don't.

While I know logically that in the end I'll be somewhere I really love for four years, I do have a lot of hope and emotion invested in Yale that will certainly manifest on the 15th.

i cant disengage quite yet. im sooooo set on Yale, all i can see when i think about it is seeing the acceptance and freaking out. i cant even picture rejection. omg.

Davidrune, my bet is that you're in. Take nothing for granted, but I think my hunch is fairly accurate, based on what I know about the process. Just make sure your essay holds the attention of your first reader, your area rep.

Zuma- thanks for the vote of confidence.

I'm with you, iplayoboe, which, in most cases, is probably less than wise.

lindseylujh, if you wrote a captivating essay, I think your prospective major is an asset. I think it is more likely than not that you will be admitted.

I have no idea how my essay compares with everyone else's. I had an independent college counselor tell me it was "pretty good", but I doubt her expertise and expect that most Yale applicants will have stellar essays.

We'll see.

lindseylujh - yea, sigh, i know its unwise. its downright foolish. its stupid even. and everybody i know is aware that i applied, my school hasnt sent somebody to yale (or even been accepted) in 30 years, so the college councelor and my councelor are all excited about it and told my teachers and suddenly the pressure to get in is crazy. haha, sometimes when im supposed to be doing homework, (and im not typing here) i find myself reading the Yale website over and over again, esp the polictical science department and club pages and the music department pages. ... i am setting myself up for a HUGH disappointment if things dont pan out... sigh

Yeah, I understand. I've even practiced my 'Oh my gosh! I got in!' cry/dance. Not cool.

YES-- ditto. :(
