To PShap91: This is from the Fordham’s website:

Early action applicants who choose to apply for an early action estimated financial aid package are required to complete the CSS Profile by November 1st. Estimate your income information as necessary. Some students will be asked to send in the Business and Farm Supplement and/or the Non-custodial Parent Statement (along with Non-custodial Parent tax returns). These forms are also required by November 1st. Provided that we have all of the necessary information, early action estimated financial aid packages will be mailed during the first week of February. There is no advantage or disadvantage if you apply for an early action estimate. Both early action applicants and regular decision applicants will receive equal consideration as long as both the FAFSA and CSS Profile are completed by February 1st.

So right now, those who’ve heard about getting money have heard about getting scholarships, but not about actual financial aid. I know the one I got, the Semifinalist Scholarship, was a merit one, not a financial one, based on being a Semifinalist/Finalist in the National Merit/Achievement/Hispanic program.

Here’s more from their website, just in case anybody else was wondering about scholarships/financial aid for Early Action applicants:

"Fordham University offers merit scholarships in three major categories for incoming freshmen: Presidential, Deans, and National Semifinalist. There are no separate forms for these scholarships; however, a valid FAFSA must be on file with Fordham by the start of classes for the scholarship to disburse to the student’s account. The following are minimum criteria to be considered for scholarship. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee a scholarship offer. Admissions will notify you of your scholarship eligibility in your acceptance letter. However, Presidential Scholarship recipients are not notified until April.

Scholarships are generally awarded to the top 5% of the of the admitted class.

Scholarship recipients typically have an A/A- average, minimum 1350 SAT with an even split between the critical reading and math sections, with typically above a 2000 including the New SAT Writing section, rank within the top 10% of the graduating class, and have strong extracurricular involvement.

Beginning in the 2007/2008 academic year, Deans scholarships are worth minimally $10,000, on an annual basis, which may increase if a student demonstrates financial need.

There are only 20 Presidential scholarships awarded each year. Presidential scholars typically have a strong A/A- average, rank within the top 1-2% of the graduating class (and are often #1 or #2), score above 1450 on the SAT, with typically above a 2200 including the New SAT Writing section, and have very strong extracurricular involvement and demonstration of leadership ability. Presidential scholarships are worth full tuition and room.

Scholarships are also available for students who are National Merit, National Achievement, or National Hispanic semifinalists or finalists and rank within the top 10% of the graduating class. National Semifinalist scholarships are for full tuition."
