Hey guys, this college has always been a dream school for me. I’ve been praying so hard every night just to get into this college. :[ Can you guys chance me with a honest perspective? I have a 94.5 U/W GPA and an 1840 on the SAT (700 Math, 630 Writing (11 on Essay), 510 CR). I have nice awards and decent-above average ECs.

Post #30 from BlackRose101, the thread starter

** if you are coming here for chances, please make your own new thread **

stating stats isn’t chancing, it’s just conversation. there ARE however posters coming here looking for chances, and OP has explicitly stated that this is not what this is for.

you are the only one upset about this ‘chance’ thread.

/point.

Our definitions of upset must differ then because I don’t feel sad at all, how peculiar…I guess I expect too much from college bound students to assume that they know that they’re more than just numbers. What discussion value are statistics that don’t indicate acceptance/rejection anyways? Chancing. I simply pointed out that it apparently turned into a chancing thread, then answered with a harmless sarcastic comment because constantly comparing yourself to others and letting yourself be represented by numbers doesn’t benefit in the long run. I don’t understand why you were so sensitive in the first place to tell me to leave, sure I don’t like chancing, thats why I’m not in a (originally) chancing thread, but if I offended you in the first place, you should’ve just told me or said you see no harm in chancing here, but I guess not. :)

I was telling you to leave, just making you aware of options since you posted book-length (sarcasm) responses. I am actually against chancing, hence my last post. trust me, you did not offend me do not worry, my friend.

My only “long” responses were after you told me to leave…are you aware of that?

Anyways, I’m not inept, I know I can leave. There’s no other thread for this however, and if I made a new one it would be a complete mess and both will have scattered discussion.

Either way, we’re good now, it’s no use to push this further.

complete sarcasm, someone should develop software that makes tone and facial recognition readable over computers :)

back to NEU discussions!

lolz. I’m always off the computer when interesting stuff happens.

Thanks CPU. You handled that well :)

WarmGesture, no worries. People probably get it now. :)

and as CPU said,
:)

Did all of you make sure to complete your CSS profile?

I decided not to waste $ filling that out when I will have to resend once 2011 taxes are done. Plus, depending on news on December 15, I may decline offers from my state flagship and NEU (if accepted).

i made a thread for my stats, if anyone wants to look at it that would be greatly appreciated

Vail23,

I’ll do it for you! :)

CPU, what happens if you’re accepted and you choose to go? You will not get any aid, right?

The deadline for financial aid is beginning of February. December is just to get an estimate

how much easier is it to get accepted with a major in history than a major in something like neuroscience

@WarmGesture

It’s just a fact of life. People are always comparing each other by numbers. Age, education, income, height, weight, etc. Heck, the most popular shows on TV are about numbers, everything from the Super Bowl to Biggest Loser.

Vail23, apply for the major that you want to be in.
You have no idea if they’ll accept you into a different major if you are accepted.

Just wanted to say good luck to everyone who applied! I’ve only recently looked into it and did some research about the place and programs they have to offer, but from what I’ve seen so far, I have to say, I love it!! Best of luck to all applicants!

Thanks Equestriann, same to you :)

So, based on the past few years it looks like decisions will start being released on the 15th or so…super nervous!

I’m freaking out now, because I know that one of my friends from school with better stats than me is applying EA too and I don’t want to be deferred because of that.

There are many kids from our school in RI, that applied EA to NE. It is a very popular school! Try not to worry, and apply to a good safety.

I’m just really concerned about my lower unweighted gpa. I hope I don’t get deferred
