*Official EA Thread Class of 2016*

It seems that almost everyone accepted EA received some sort of scholarship… could that be how they decided who to defer? Just a thought…

rsingh13 - you may have rec’d financial aid grant money. Did you receive MERIT money?

“In my opinion ED works for the very wealthy and the very low income families but not for middle income families.”

It only works for very low income families if the FA need is fully met during ED. Many schools regardless of need will no where meet what is required, regardless of the income of the family.

Agree. I just neglected to be more specific.

I have no problem admitting that northeastern is not my number one choice. Every college that a student applies to is not a number one choice. Besides the “normal characteristics”, finances moves a college way up or way down on my “favorite list”. I might as well have been rejected from NE, or any other school that doesn’t give sufficient aid. Sufficient for me is $10k out of pocket or less, which I will be offered at other schools that meet full need, minimal loans.

Congrats to everyone else who was accepted and deferred.

@CPUscientist3000: Right there with ya dude.

I was trying all last night to get to this board but it was down! I got accepted!

My stats are in the decision thread. Woo!

@kleibo. I didn’t apply for aid. It is a deans scholarship

@rsignh13

What do you mean “Hahaha my stats are so much lower than everyone else’s and I got a boat load of money”

Accepted college of humanities or w/e
3.6 gpa
2140 SAT
Decent EC’s
Excellent essays and recs

Got a $72,000 scholarship lol

Your stats are in line with what others received.

That’s about 18k a year, around everyone else, like kleibo said…

Got accepted into the Pharm. D program.
10k/year from dean’s scholarship and total 20200 from NEU funds.
No honors invitation though :u

they are lower…at least my gpa is. not trying to be an ass or anything, i legitimately thought they were. 72K is a lot of money in my opinion…idk about yours

stats:
gpa: 95
sat: 1970
ethnicity: native american
gender: female
top 10% of graduating class (572)
deferred :frowning: :frowning: :(

It sure is interesting to see who was admitted and who was deferred. There is the same mixture of applicants in both groups. Some with impressive stats deferred and some with lower end stats getting admitted. My D was deferred, but we fully expected that. At her school the naviance says over the course of 4 years 33 students were deferred and only 7 admitted in RD. Doesn’t bode well for my D :(.

I was accepted!

GPA: 3.38 UW
SAT: super-score 1800
ACT: 30
Lots of ECs; President of the drama club, as well as Stage Manager with heavy involvement the past 4 years, and Honor Thespian status. Also 4 years of participation in the marching band (including marching in Shanghai, China in 2009), 11 years of dance lessons, and 10 years of girl scouts with a bronze and silver award.

I was expecting to be deferred with my lower stats, so this acceptance was thoroughly a surprise! So excited!

wow I can’t believe you were deferred! I was too with similar SATs, plus I thought my essay and ECs were strong. Some of these decisions are so confusing, at least we still have a chance though!

Accepted! $20000/yr deans scholarship!!!
UW GPA 93 (3.8) at a competitive NY high school ( almost all honors/aps)
33 ACT
Good ECs/essays
I was a little surprised that I didn’t get into the honors program… Is there any way that they could decide to put me in the program after they review RD applications?
Either way I’m not complaining, congrats to everyone who got accepted! and good luck to those that got deferred, I’m sure everything will work out!

I’ve never heard of someone not getting into honors in EA and then getting in for RD, although it wouldn’t hurt to ask admissions.

I have a feeling though that they are going to tell you to just apply honors after your first semester here.

Okay great!! Thank you!:)

My D got accepted, honors, $20/yr, 32 ACT, 4.5 wgpa, several APs with 4s and 5s, part time job, solid ECs.

D accepted!

2140 SAT
1/290 class rank
Lots of EC’s/Community service
8APs and 5 dual enrolments
