Congrats everyone =]
And good luck to those who were deferred!

i was deferred as were alot of kids at my school. 44 applied this year to EA alone and i think about half were accepted and half were deferred but no one was denied as far as i know. seems wierd

I was accepted on Thursday at around 9pm. I had no idea that decisions were going out until I happened to check my e-mail right at 9 (but I check my e-mail very frequently…)

I got into the Honors Program and received the Dean’s Scholarship (20k a year). It’s still really expensive even with the scholarship and the tentative need based aid…anyone know when the Trustee Scholarship will go out? Good luck to everyone!

@acaaarc

Your tuition will only be around $17,000 per year because of the scholarship. You should be able to get more financial aid that will make it even less. I was at an open house at NU back in October and the financial aid person said there are lots of scholarships that are never used because nobody applies. You should contact financial aid, online scholarship sites, and your school counselor and apply for everything you qualify for. Many will only be for $1,000, but they add up quickly.

Totoro66- hey! did you mean that there are northeastern scholarships that can be applied for? I thought everyone was just automatically considered for merit and if you didnt get it with your letter then you didn’t get it. If there are other northeastern schoarships that require a separate app that you know about…could you please let me know!

NEU is my top choice, but I’m not totally sure how to make it work financially.

No, Totoro66 was referring to “outside scholarships”. They can be from writing essays to places you find online, getting sponsored by your parents’ employers, some high schools give out scholarships, etc. Most students don’t bother applying for them, even though they can add up to a lot if you put the effort in. All financial packages (need and merit) were considered as part of your application. There is no separate application.

Accepted (and very happy)!

SAT: 2080
All A’s in 12 AP classes as well
Tons of EC’s (including extensive community service work)
received scholarship… but no honors program (slightly disappointing)
