Yes I understand that. I’m not saying people don’t graduate in 4 years, but MOST of us are going to be graduating in 2017 because most people talking 2 semesters of co-op and just resume their schoolwork the year after.

so there is a possibility that we might find out before the 23?? When do people think they we will find out by? and what are peoples SAT score???

2010 hbuuu

Actually, more and more students are opting for a four year model than a five. Many programs offer different options as more students are opting for four years and I have even found a shift in the University to a four year component in order to not scare away prospective students with the five year tag. You do not have to do a co-op. You can do one, two or three if you wanted. If you come in with AP credit, each one counts as a class. And to do a co-op and graduate in four years is very possible. If you came in with four AP credits you could graduate in 4 years without any summer classes. If you had no credits, than you could make up the co-op semester’s missed classes over the summer, you would three summers (two sessions within each summer) making 6 options to complete the four class, or you can always take an extra class during a standard semester. Thus, as you can see there are many options!

I am an NU sophomore, btw! I spent last summer doing an internship that I got on my own (not through the school) and will be doing one co-op. Since I already had some AP credit, I just have to make up three classes instead of four. This semester, I overloaded class. As for the remaining two that will be lost during co-op, I will do them over a summer session and still manage to graduate in four years and have two open summers. Summer sessions are a short 6 weeks. If you do summer 1, you’re done by July 4th!

It’s very easy to do because NU is one of the earliest schools to get out anywhere - usually the end of April. My eldest goes to a school with a quarter system and doesn’t get out till the 2nd week of June.

It can be completely different for people in 4 versus 5 years. Some programs because of how they are structured MAKE you do 5 years. CS and Multimedia is 5 years, 2 co-ops and no summers- and there is no way to change it.

Meanwhile I’ve done two co-ops in 4 years, took summer classes for electives (just because I didn’t feel like going home) and could have done it in 3.5 (but again, just decided to stick around).

And I started in a year where pretty much everyone thought they’d do 5 years, because it was before the big push for 4, and yet more than two-thirds of my friends are doing 4 years.

Hello:) I just found this thread, and I also applied EA for NEU. I’m hearing from a few that decisions might start coming our this coming Thursday. Can I get any confirmations on this?

In previous years it came out on that thursday so its a pretty good guess that it will be the same this year…however, the school has until the 31st to give it to u…

Yes, agree with nyang. It seems the decisions have come out for the last few years on the third Thursday of December, but there’s no guarantee.

I applied EA to the CBA and I Can’t wait for decisions they better come on thursday. NU is the first school I hear back from so nervous

i’m so anxious!!! i think northeastern’s my first choice school and i just wanna get in already! i don’t even know where else to apply cause i just wanna go there

almost all colleges are sending out their acceptance/rejection/deffer this thursday…fingers crossed!

hey so does anyone know what day the decisions came out last year?

swoozy… see above. The past three years decisions have been released on the third Thursday of the month. 16th last year, 17th 2009. Last year they started releasing in waves based on geographic location (Mass. first). It’s a slow process. In Pennsylvania we didn’t have access to a decision until 9pm. So I think you can be reasonably sure you will have a decision this Thursday the 15th.

@nmt. what time do you think NJ will get it?

mdee94, I believe NJ was finding out earlier than PA last year, maybe by an hour or more. Also depends on where in NJ. If you live in Cape May you’re prob not going to hear earlier than PA. NYC and northern NJ will likely be earlier. Seems to spread from Boston in increasing geographic circles. We are in NE PA

I’m in Illinois (Chicago). Would that mean I will find out at a different time? Also, does anyone believe that if you’re from somewhere outside of the NE you have a better chance of getting in for the sake of geographic diversity?

thanks @ NMT. i am in northern jersey,so hopefully i can find out earlier! but not too early that i get it in school :X

I’m so excited, yet so nervous for Thursday.

@dschur: Northeastern is trying to increase its geographic diversity. So coming from outside New England and the Mid-Atlantic states would be a minor hook in your favor.
